^^^^ True that. ^^^^

They sure did a fine job of screwing up one of the best trigger designs ever in the "Lawyer Proofing" process though.
What a shame.

if you are shooting against a bat/krieger/ macmillian/ jewell it could take a real long long time to learn .

It's a shame the Xmark can't be adjusted easily. Probably the crispest trigger I've used but I wasn't able to adjust mine from 6 lb to 4 lb. The gunsmith tried a little, but I told him not to waste time on it and order a Timney.

Best $7 you can spend.

I put one I these springs in my Bud's rifle. He had it adjusted to ~4#. With the new spring, it was 2#. We actually adjusted it in a hair to 3# for his preference.

I emailed "Ernie" and asked him if the m870 spring would work in my m887! He said he wasn't sure, so he sent me one to try. I've got a great feeling 4# trigger on my duck gun. It's pretty sweet!!

The XMark pro isn't all bad, you just have to work around some things. Not any different then any other regular production rifle. IME.

Yes, Remington has had problems with triggers. Some love them and some don't. Timneys are a step up because they disconnect the trigger when on "safe". They are easy to install.

I've owned a few remingtons and most of them needed some tweaking to get to shoot MOA (floating the barrel, bedding the action, tuning the trigger, etc). It seems that people like them so much because that's what they were raised with... I like Chevy's because that's what my dad owned.
Now it's probably safe to say that there have been more animals taken with a Remington than any other rifle but the nice thing about competition is that competitors are always looking for ways to be better. I think that's where Remington has fallen behind. Take a look at all the guns out there that can outshoot a Remington straight out of the box. In fact Savage that you said you didn't like has won a few competitions with their out of the box rifles. Remington's are good guns but you can't argue the fact that to get them to shoot on par with other manufacturers in the same price range they need some modifications.

The last Remington I bought had the x-mark pro trigger and I encountered the same issue. On a big game rifle the trigger would have been fine but not on a varmint rig. I ended up replacing it with a Jewell. I have also had Shilen and Rifle Basix and recommend any of them if you are after a lighter pull weight.

I never said I didn't like savage. I just don't care for the feel of the accu-trigger. I'm not taking anything from one rifle or rifle company. Jus simply stating I have had excellent success with Remington's. I just dont appreciate when someone takes one example or situation and makes it the stigma for the entire company or line of product. It just doesn't make sense. I offered some very reasonable and effective alternatives to a "lawyer built" trigger and was ridiculed for my brand loyalty. This trigger is easily worked and made effective. If one want to spend the money for an aftermarket trigger, by all means do so. I was offering a more cost effective option to the OPs question.

The fact of the matter is that any and all companies and/or product lines will see issues with their products. It's the human element. I work on fighter aircraft everyday. We still find design flaws and such often. That's with trillions in R&D over many many years. It happens. We also see parts that fail functional and operational checks at the end user. It happens.

I see what the Savage team is doing. Simply awesome. Will that make me run out and buy one? Not likely. But to each their own.

When you post on a forum your going to get a lot of differant answers. Most are good as these were. If I could afford it I would have a custom job done to my Remingtons. I owned and shot BDLs,ADL,CDL's and currently have a VTR in 22-250. I have never had a bad trigger on any of them just factory triggers that are set for libility reason. There is a reason why pros shoot after market trigger. Bring it to a good gun smith and he will fix you up either by working on the trigger or if you can afford it he will install a after market. Me I just practice more and get the feel of the one that comes with the rifle. Good Luck.

Thanks for all the input guys ! Ive desided to order the spring kit that pahntr760 mentioned. Its the cheapest thing to try, hope it works. The trigger isnt bad, I just know it could be better.

The sps trigger can be adjusted just like the old Remington triggers. Mine sucked right out of the box and that phony allen screw would not get me below 5 pounds. I took the rifle apart and adjusted the trigger just like the old style and it is at 3 pounds now and shooting 1/2 inch groups.

That allen screw setup is pure crap. All of the original screws are still in the same place. They accomplished nothing with it except they have had a lot of triggers break where the screw is located.

Well I got the spring in the mail today that PAHNTER760 put me onto and it worked great ! Much lighter, not sure what the pull is now because I dont have a scale but its much lighter and to my liking. Plus its very easy to install and adjust. Thanks again to Shane (pahntr760) !
