So this is my new Olympic Arms UMAR 22-250, with my new foxpro wildfire. I have a Nikon prostaff 4x12-40. I went with a cheaper scope but the eye relief on it awesome. I have to thank my wife for this because without her I could not get all the cool toys I get. She really spoils me!! I will let you know more about my UMAR 22-250 once I get to get it out and shoot it. For you guys that already have one, I have a question. Will the magazine not lock in the magazine well without chambering a round???

Does she have any sisters?

On my r-15 the mag will not lock in unless you have cocked the charging handle. Pull charging handle back to cock then the mag will lock in, then you can send the bolt chambering a shell or you can leave it unchambered.

Slap the bottom of the mag upwards with your palm to seat it, then pull down to confirm it is locked. I've had cheap mags that didn't want to lock easily when they were fully loaded and the bolt was closed. Operative word there is cheap mags. The good ones always seemed to work fine.

Hey bushy do you have one of these rifles? If so does yours lock? So far ive been told that they dont on the UMARs. Trying to find people that actually have one that could tell me. I was like you thinking this thing should lock in. The only way my mag gets far enough in is if the bolt is locked back

Try not loading your mags all the way full.

Try loading one less round in the mag.

It should lock in. (disclaimer: I don't have one, but for the life of me I can't see why it shouldn't. Be a piss poor design if that's the case.)

PM Skinney on here. He has done a review of the UMAR. If anybody would know if they should lock or not, he'd be the one. Might be a bad mag or lower fit problem, or like Doggin said, would be a crappy design if they don't lock intentionally.

The UMAR uses a specific mag made by Olympic for the longer rounds. The lower is designed to take standard AR mags but I think you have to change out the mag release to a different one supplied with the rifle. Atleast that is my understanding, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe the wrong release is installed?

How is the fit between the upper and lower?

The fit between the upper and lower is real tight. I still havent got an answer from anyone else who has one regarding the magazine. Im going to start a new thread asking about it i think maybe one of them will respond

Looks good. Now it’s time to GET SOME!

Wishing you the best of luck with your new UMAR 22-250. They sure are nice when they don’t have issues.
