My new LRI 308

Smokin Barrel

I got this together earlier this fall and have got to take one deer with it so far. This is the first gun I have ever had any custom work on and am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Got in on the GB over on the hide. Chad Dixon and his crew at Long Rifles Inc up in Sturgis, SD were a great bunch of guys and Gals) to deal with and wouldn't hesitate using them again.

I want to give a shout out to 2MG for helping me out with this as well....Thanks Ken!

Rem 700 trued action
#5 Brux 1:12 spiral fluted finished at 24"
LRI bolt knob and spiral flute
Sniper Gray C-kote
Timney Trigger
B&C Medalist 1000 (for now, Gamescout on order)
Threaded muzzle (for a can that seems like it will never get here)
Everything I tried in it shot really well but settled on the Berger Classic Hunter. Also found a really "nice" load with the Sierra 165gr SPBT around 2350 fps (my wife really enjoys shooting them)

I agree. I am looking forward to meeting them and having a coyote hammer built by them!

Matt---

That came out really nice. I like the sniper gray. It is gonna look REAL good with the GS stock IMO.

I see you went with the M1s on the Mark 2 as we discussed. Good decision.

Very nice

I like the color too.

I could see a green GS with SG metal in my gun safe.

I tried RE15, 4064 and Varget with Varget producing the best groups with the Sierra 165 gr SPBT and the 168gr Classic Hunters. The Classic Hunters are running about 2600 with 43.5gr of Varget. I have a boatload of 165gr Hdy SST's that I tried to get dialed in and produced the best results with the RE15, but not as good as the other two. The SST's were the fastest at around 2650 fps while the SPBT were around 2350fps. Both of the Berger's and SPBT were grouping about .350" @ a 100yds. I even had some 168gr Amax and SMK loads I run in my AR that shot very well. Seems like no matter what you throw at it, it will shoot it well.

What suppressor did you get?

I am pretty stoked about the GS. Everyone tells me it will be a totally different gun in that stock. I was torn between it and the A1-3.

I got a couple good deals on two AAC cans, Ranger 3 and the Hunter......but I am about ready to bag the whole thing. I paid my dealer in February and he doesn't even have them yet.

I was admiring this again. So nice! The GS is gonna look sweet. How long is the wait time on that GS? Just a super nice rifle.
