My old Knight muzzleloader..........................

Produces yet again. This gun has been taking deer for nearly 30 seasons now. I have never experienced a bit of difficulty with it any way. Trigger is not only tuned, but exceptionally good. Plastic trigger guard was replaced by metal one. 209 Conversion was done years ago. Other than that, it has just been an accurate, reliable, deer killing machine.....

Thanks guys. Truth is, I was trying to hold out for a real monster after already shooting a similar sized buck in October. After getting called back to work 2X, and NOT going, I shot this guy 10 minutes after I got a 3rd call and told them I would come back.

He was bedded down in a very deep hole in the thick brush. Very deep hole. I stalked in close. He finally got up and started to head other direction, after staring my way for a few. Then I let him have it. He went right down. He never took a step, and I never made it out to my treestand. The Barnes 250gr worked very well.

It was a fun hunt.....

Nice Ken!
I'm 25 for 25 with my Encore ML but am not even taking it to camp this year, going to try the Marlin's since we are finally allowed to use rifles chambered for some straight walled cartridges I'll be taking the 45/70 and 45 Colt

Knight is back in business in Athens TN. The local Academy has, or possibly had a Knight youth muzzleloader, a spike horn, for $125 on closeout right after muzzleloading season ended here.

I hated cleaning my old Wolverine with #11 ignition, but with the full plastic jacket and a 209 primer it is still a great gun.

Thanks guys. Good job Rick.

Not sure how many deer my rifle has taken. I do know that none have ever went far after the shot. This was my first year using the Barnes 250gr Expander MZ. I used 260gr Win Supreme Platinum Tip for years and they were outstanding. If they still made them, I'd still be using them. The barnes was very impressive though, as well. Opens fast, but stays together.

2/3 of Michigan is any rifle you want zone. Botton 1/3 used to be ML, shotgun, handgun only. I never use a shotgun, ever. Starting this year, we can use a straight walled case with brass up to 1.8". I have a 44mag, but may have something different for next year. I'm thinking a 445 Supermag, or a 450 Bushmaster upper.....

Still the best muzzleloader you can buy for the money IMO. Nothing fancy, but very light/handy. Balances well, and shoots anything you put in it well. At least mine does. No bolt needed. They only add weight and length, but not performance IMO.

I can afford any ML I want. I have owned 2 others and sold both. I just can't seem to let this one go. Can't seem to let it sit home in favor of another, either. I know it isn't nothing special. But to me, it is. It just does it's job with no fuss. One guy recently described it as a "meat and potatoes" rifle. I told him that about sums it up, as it has been bringing the meat to the potatoes very consistently for a long time now
