My Wicked Lights w402zf review

for anyone looking for a similar storage solution for their lights, I made my own from a plano gun case from amazon for $19.99

Its so nice to grab the case and go out knowing you have everything you need and then some.



 
I have two of the Wicked Lights Scan and Kill W401ZF with scope mounts and love them. I shoot deer at night with nuisance permits in Ohio. Can see their eyes easily at 350 yards with naked eye and it lights their body up just fine through the scope at 300+ yards when they turn broadside. The movement in the mount is a non-issue- it returns to center. I use one on a 270WSM and it stays lined up just fine. I used to lug around a car battery with a big spotlight and this is brighter and so light weight. The batteries last several nights for me with constant scanning, too. Great product.

Just was curious if the bigger 402zf is significantly brighter/ enables longer range detection in the field than the 401zf. How does battery life compare? Thanks.
 
I have both the Wicked 402zf and a gen 1 coyote light as well as a few others. My in field experience is that the wicked is a nice piece but it is not as bright as the coyote light and does not reach as far. But with that said I don't know if it is that much better to make up the price difference.
 
I dont have a problem with the "slop" in a sniper hog light 66. I think the coyote light is nice but getting two lights (50LR and 66LR) for $259 was a no brainer for me. Now maybe down the line once all the smoke clears from the large investments of predator hunting, I will explore the coyote light but for now, the 66LR is fantastic for me. Just my .02
 
I recently bought the Coyote light. I have not used it yet. Going to try and make it out right after Christmas. Being a machinist by trade, I'm very impressed with the machining quality and American workmanship on the Coyote light. The beam adjustment is tight and smooth with zero play. We are not allowed to attach any type of light to a firearm for hunting here In California but we are allowed to hunt predators at night. One of the features I like about the Coyote light is that it has an optional handle you can attach to the light. This is what I'm use to. Operating the light with my left hand, shooting my sporter weight Sako 22-250 with my right. The rifle is supported by a Harris bipod. I've been hunting at night like this by my lonesome for over 30 years I'm good out to around 200 yards at night like this. One thing I'm really looking forward to is the rheostat feature on the Coyote light. The coyotes in these parts are hunted hard at night and can be very light shy. It doesn't take much light at all to pick up eyes So I should be able to bring them in close with this light. If the light works out as well as I think it will, I'll be buying another one for a back up. All ways got to have a back up. Grizz

My new W402ZF just came in the mail today. Charging up the batteries now. I can't wait to get it in the woods and see if I can't call a coyote in front of it. Thanks Boondocks for the freaky fast shipping (same day).
 
I just bought the wicked 402 and I like it, but it's not as bright as the"coyote light" the dimmer on the coyote light is awesome! If money isn't a problem go with the coyote light.
 
I use the Fenix PD35 with rechargable batteries, 960 lumens also have a PD32 for scanning.I bought
some of those china made lights for work but through them in the trash after 1 month of use.

Interesting statement, since Fenix is a china based company.

The original poster (OP) titled his post "my wicked lights W402zf review", not sure why you would take offense to the posting of a wicked light product photo in a wicked lights thread.

We are not interested in joining the flashlight internet wars or hijacking the OP's thread about his new light what ever brand he chooses.

However, if you make a post regarding your light purchase, I'll make a point to post the a picture or two and the CoyoteLight product video which the "biased" staff at APC filmed, edited, and produced... you know the same product video that Coyotelights displays on there home page, that one.

BTW, congrats on your purchase. It's a great light too.

Thank you it is a great light in fact the best and no offense taken. I just thought it was odd that the second I mention I like the handle option on my Coyote Light you post an image of a Wicked Light with a handle. BTW I'm just busting your corporate balls a little. I'm biased that way.
