Nazi Flag

It is important. That is just the way the world is. You might not like it, but you need to learn to live with it. Besides, after a while you will be able to type fast and spell well. But then we get into grammar, punctuation, Latin... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The spelling is important, Robert.

While it's not critical to spell check every thing you post, as long as you get most of the words, especially the small words, it makes your writings much more easier to understand.

Sure we all put typos in here and there. An extra word left over from a cut-and-paste, or a missed keystroke every once and a while is no big deal--it happens. However, it doesn't take but a half second to hit the backspace key and correct a word. Eventually, you'll become much more efficient at typing. And when you move on to college you will greatly appreciate improved typing skills.

People here like to read ideas and thoughts that other people are writing about, but we won't labor ourselves to do so. There is also a curteousy factor involved. Take the time to keep the spelling and grammar under control since other people are going to take the time to read your posts. You stated that you were trying to save time by leaving all of your typos as they fell. It wastes a lot of our time to try and decipher what it is you are trying to say. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

EDIT: Don't worry, you'll thank us in the long run! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Robert,

Your post:

A teacher I have now says this quote
" small minds talk about people
meduim minds talk about events
great minds talk about ideas"

I applaud you for having committed a great quote to memory. I'm sure your teacher is very proud as well.

Surprise him/her with a couple more:

"Form good habits. They're as hard to break as bad ones." author unknonwn

"Well done is better than well said." Benjamin Franklin

As for the swastika. Previous posts are correct. The swastika has been around for centuries. It has been associated with religion and luck. It has been found in nearly every region on earth. From ancient Mayans to Tibet where Tibetans placed the swastika on their homes for good luck. To representing 4 "L"s on early 20th century post cards.

The swastika was even an insignia in the U.S. military (45th infantry I believe) prior to World War II. It was changed because of the Nazi use of it.

The Native American swastika "turns" counter-clockwise while the German Nazi swastika "turns" clockwise.

(If this is more information than you really wanted just call me Cliff Clavin. lol)

As for the hanging of a Nazi flag in the window. These folks probably don't know what it really represents. If they do you are much better to just leave them alone.

My 2 cents.

Carefull Robert,
What used to be a forum about news, political information, and public relations, is now the domain of "The Spelling Police." If found guilty of mispelling a word, you may be fined up to, but not more than $50,000. Or you could spend up to 36 months in a correctional facility. Repeat offenders could face both penalties, as well as not have anybody want to read their posts anymore. For the sake of you and your family please Robert, don't become another statistic.

Seriously, cut the kid some slack. Have we nothing better to talk about these days? Perhaps we could try sticking a little closer to the pertaining topic of discussion. I'm sure Robert has parents and teacher enough to explain to him the importance of good spelling. People visit Predator Masters to share their thoughts, ideas, and questions, with others of similar intrests. Not get ragged on about grammer and spelling. You're all starting to sound more like my 10th grade English teacher, Ms. Walker, than a bunch of predatory killers.

Nobody here is demanding perfection.

Readable is the goal.

Think about it: the whole reason anyone makes a post is to convey information. What's the point if the post is so garbled up that people either can't figure out what is being said, or decide they won't spend the effort to figure it out?

I make typos all the time. I've just gotten in the habit of going back & reading what I just wrote and fixing anything really obvious that jumps out at me.

I want to know what people have to say here. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that the posters make some effort to make sure what they say can be understood.

Song Dog Assasin - Naturaly (Ooops make that naturally) I understand what your point is, but I do not believe that we are jumping ugly with the young man. I absolutely know that I do not spell or type well, but I do try and to try at least a little is not such a big thing to ask and no he is not going to get in any kind of board trouble for spelling issues. One thing I'd like you to consider. This is a forum that relies on the written word, we have no other way of communicating, truly poor writing is sometimes so difficult to navigate that it will eventually be ignored completely. I for one don't want anyone to be ignored, I want everyone to be able to participate at what ever level that they feel comfortable.

As I stated before I have been there. When it was brought to my attention by Stu, Jack and Michael I felt the exact same way, like whats the big deal. However I started proof reading my posts and fixing anything that didnt look normal. I still type fast and make a ton and a half of errors, but I then go back over it and fix the mistakes. In this post alone I have made over 3 mistakes and corrected them as of now. And I dont want to target you Robert, but honestly when I read a post and it has that many errors, I start to question any advice they might give or the worthyness of the post itself. I am glad they all spoke up to me when they did, it has helped me in the long run and I do definetly see their points. It really is a big deal when we have to sit and try to decyper them.

i see your point on teh splling errors. but its not liek my errors are so bad that u cant read them EVERY SUNGLE POST. im mean sure ive had my bad posts when uve had to type alot in liek teh 2 min i had in teh library during 4th hour. but hell, havent u all been kids. i understand that u want me to spell god but i dotn have the time nor the pateince to go back over and spell check. itd be alot easier for me to jstu not post at all instead of posting adn then fixing. well ill try harder on teh mistakes, but keep in mind im 16 yrs old (as of may 19) and to tell ya the truth i care more about teh information that i an others are conveying, then what thier IQ level looks liek becuase of how good/or bad ssomeone types

Robert, Yesterday you posted and your spelling was pretty good and it was a pleasure to read. Today son, to put it mildly, you suck again. Whats up with that? You showed us yesterday you CAN do it. I think your just flat out lazy. Go to bed tonight and thank God your not my kid, because if you were and I knew you put out crap like we've seen here, there would be NO COMPUTER PRIVILEGES for you young man. Furthermore from now on, any Robert Dutton post will not be read by me. Sorry kiddo, enough is enough. L.T.

well i had a good post but i decide3d nto to post cause the more i say about it the more they will jsut keep teh disscusion alive. well its okay guys i wotn post anythign else in this topic of thsi forum ever again, becuase the oen time i do, i get shot to hell for my spelling. well i wont be on for a while. nice talkin to yall, but i wont be posting for a while, unless absolutely necisary.

PS-if ud liek to find me and my mis-speeld words ill be on teh CHAT program quite a bit instead now.

Sincerly,
the small minded person who cant spell whorth a **** ,
Robert

Yeah, I was a kid. And I wrote clearly. When I was 15/16 I dang sure didn't write like a 1st grader.

We've offered constructive criticism. What you do with it is up to you. If you don't have enough respect for what you have to say than to be concerned whether other people can read it, why should they bother to take the time?

fien fine, i get the point. ill start writing a little slower so that i can spell right. but when u guys were 15/16 i dotn think they had computers, did they?????

I just started skipping them. I'm down to spending 20 min. a day on the computer and if its going to take me two of those minutes to read one paragraph then I'm a skippin' over it.

I'll say it again! He knows exactly what he is doing! You want to tell me what spelling has to do with having computers? This is ridiculous. Preach to him all you want. He's having a good laugh!

I agree with then last post. He knows, and for some reason, is continuing to annoy those of us who do care. I too was a 16 year old punk kid, I played football, basketball, baseball, skiing team, hunted, fished, and still didn't mispell every single word I typed. Let me try though;
i thunk evry1 can try much more bettr to do a gooder job at tis speln ting!

Really, how hard is it to try?

well actualyl i hate "punk" kids they annoy me. anyways im tryin to spell better that all u "oldies" started raggin on me. most teh time my spellin is bad becuasae i jsut dotn care. there ya go i admited it. but u older guys need to aloosed up a little bit, this is teh expression most of teh "older folk" have right now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif , since im willign to get better at typing u need to get better at being a kid agian and caring less about teh small stuff.hahahah.

Back to teh original post, well i might have done something to the house, or i might not have, im not implying anything. but ill just say that i had fun this weeekend /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Listen, Robert, go easy and just chill! No need to go off all half cocked and do something stupid, really. I'm not trying to preach either, to each his own. But cut us some slack, you have GOT TO BE TRYING to spell that bad! I'm no genious, but damn! It almost appears that you are trying to bait some of us into agreeing with you, wrong is wrong. I have done stupid things, things in which I thought I had a better opion, they were still wrong. I did notice, as was stated earlier, that you name and signature phrase was spelled correctly. Emphasizing "MAN", and "Robert", is it possible you are a "man" named "Robert" trying to irritate us? Just wondering?

Robert Im 18, I know how to have fun and be serious at the same time. If your gonna take the time to post, take the time to spell it right or at least edit it. If not, Ill continue skipping over your posts because I cant even decypher them anymore.

Robert, what the others have tried to tell you everal times in several very nice ways is: Either make an effort to spell at least a couple of words correctly, or quit torturing the rest of the world with your incomprehensible crap. You can go sit in the corner and pout about it if you want to. You can threaten to never post again. Frankly, I don't care. At least you won't be wasting everybodies time while attempting to read your posts. Can you hear me now?
