NBA players not saluting flag?

I go to an NBA(Basketball) game once every couple of years and I've noticed this before, but not to the extent that it was tonight.

I told my wife to watch and see how many players wouldn't put their hands over their hearts during the national anthem. We talked about how alot of players may be from different countries or some may have religious reasons not to /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gifI don't know?

Tonight only one player, out of the 25 or 30, put their hand over their heart during the national anthem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gifMost of the coaching staff members did put their hands on their hearts.( so Obviuosly people in the basketball community know about this little sign of respect)

What's is up? I'm sure there is a simple explanation, What is it?

that dosent surprise me.the NBA is the worst professional
organization there is.then again there were probably a
lot of other people not doing it also.

I got to agree. People pick on NASCAR as a red neck sport but you see a lot of respect for the country and flag at them.

Well, stop and think about it. How many NBA players do you think are Black Muslims or Nation of Islam followers? How many do you think pay money to Farrakhan like Eddie Murphy does.

Worthless, overpaid thug punks. Never taught any respect and they show it. Personally, if they were all unemployed tomorrow it would not affect me one bit. But then again, America can only have so many seven foot tall grocery boys and car washers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

when I was a kid we admired many pro b-ball players. over time the NBA has indeed devolved into a collection of punk thugs that you mostly wouldn't want in you neighborhood, much less around your kids.

My girlfriend noticed it during a NFL football game also. She asked me about it and I was a little disapointed then.

I still think they are all a bunch of overpaid egomaniacs!

I grew up Rodeoing and the one time I did not stop getting ready to ride (I rode bareback horses and was the first out of the chute) an old man came up and stood by me. I think he was the flank man, but don't recall. He stood there about half way through and reached out and knocked the crap out of me. My horse went nuts and almost wrecked the hole dang chute.
Never did not stop and pay respect after that!!!!!

Ya wanna know the fastest way to wreck a neighborhood? Put in a public basketball court! I'm not kidding, I've personally seen nice quiet neighborhoods turn into hang outs for thug wannabes that destroyed the peace and quiet with cursing, vandalism, trash, underage drinking and public intoxication, drug use and dealing, sleezy punk girls and lewd behaviors... I've discussed this with other police officers at various trainings and conventions, they all share the same sentiment. The punks who are hanging out aren't the good kids who are real atheletes. The only "dribbling" these thugs know is done in their sagging drawers and down their leg. High school and college BB is fun to watch. The NBA and street ball is a game of thugs.

im not sure if you mean they just turned there backs to the flag or just the fact that they did not put there hands on there chest.. having played basketball in high school and college i seldom put my hand over my heart.. i stood at attention with my hands behind my back.... the only time we put our hands over our heart was during the pledge of allegiance... thats just the way we were taught..

whether it was right or wrong it wasnt meant to flame the country or flag.. it was just the way we done it..

yeah..it's to bad watching NBA game's used to be a lot of fun..like many i've just turned it off..watching tatoo covered thug's just don't do it for me..remember the good "ole" days when guys like clyde drexler were around..

All you can say is that the Majority of Americas sports have gone to hell in a hand basket except good ole american hopscotch /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif... uh, er, I mean Motocross! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll agree with that if you add NASCAR to your exception. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
