ND740 4x or ATN MARS 4x3

they are generally about $500 less expensive from what I can see but I haven't been shopping for an ATN so there may be better deals out there, I have not scoured the web for the best deal. I already have a D760 on order if it ever arrives... After I get it, I will take another pic of the same stop sign for a comparison.

I have the ATN MK410 and the Eagle Tac T100C2. Mine doesn't see as far as yours apparently. With the Eagle Tac, I can see well to about 70 yards or so, and closer would be better. When I say "see well," I mean for shooting and not just identifying. But, when I add IR from a Luna laser illuminator, I can shoot 100 yards or perhaps slightly further. The Luna can be focused down to a small point, thus putting more light into a smaller area, which makes it less grainy. The Eagle Tac adds surrounding vision that the Luna does not when focused tightly. The two working together helps a lot. Still, I dream of the day I can afford better. At least I have two good illuminators for when that day comes.

As to the M845, that one had my interest and I was hoping for one in a higher magnification. Then it suddenly was discontinued. Does anyone know why? From all reports I had it was a great quality scope, rivaling some Gen 3s.

5spd, sorry to jump track on your post. I know this isn't what you were inquiring about.

The night optics ns520 took place of the m845, its not milspec but is a great scope for the money. Its lightweight and has a mil dot reticle instead of the aiming dot that the 845 had also has the quick attach mount for picatinny/weaver rail.

Do you have the 3.4w version or the 3 watt. The 3.4watt on turbo with the 18650 batts @ 3100mah is what I use.

Hardware, I have the 3.4 watt model, and I too use the 18650 batteries, ones I got from Boonedock Outdoors. They are 2400 mah. I assume the only difference in the batteries would be a longer run time with your 3100 mah vs my battery.

Kyle, have you looked through the NS520 or done a comparison between it and the M845? I'm curious if the new scope is as bright and clear as everyone says the M845 was.

6mm06, I have a 520 it is very bright and clear the best gen 2 I've looked through. I talked to night optics and was told that the only difference in the 520 and 845 was the 845 was mil spec but they have the same tube and glass and a mildot reticle on the 520 vs an aiming dot on the 845.

Sorry about the hijack OP. After seeing Kyle's reply, I went back and reread. I thought you were looking for a lower cost alternative. Guess I should have had more coffee before replying. Sorry.

Not a problem at all, no worry!
