NEBRASKA

I am from nebraska i hunt northeast and southeast nebraska. I have never called a coyote yet so i couldn't tell ya. Where you from????????

I used to live south of North Platte and did some calling there. I'm up by South Dakota now but get down that way once in awhile and call some. Usually use tally ho or critter call or one of 5-6 others I get tired of the same old sound so like to change around.

Hey Coycaller. I finally got on this website. Thanks for letting me know about it. Just called in one north of the house this afternoon. Hope things are going well.

Mrquacker I am from north platte myself or just south of the lake anyway! I have been using criter calls, circe plus a handful of other calls!

coycaller how far south of North Platte did you live we mit have been pretty close?

I'm from Holt county in the north central/east real close to Coycaller. I use mostly Dan Tompson PC-1 and PC-3 with a Lohman howler and the occasional lip chorus. Not having much luck right now. Don't know why.

I live in Scottsbluff and Ogallala(Western Nebraska). I use a remote Foxpro, a sceery howler, jackrabbit and cottontail distress. I have had good luck with the woodpecker distress on the Foxpro. So far this is my best year as I was just intoduced to this disease last year.

The Huskers had an off season. The Big 12 is, right now, finally equalized, meaning anyone can win and not just the Huskers.

As far as Nebraska hunting, I hunt Nebraska and it is great. Try the Sandhills or anywhere there is a good 180 degree view. I like to start with a howler followed up with sounds of the prey in the area, i.e., if there are rabbits, squeal like a rabbit; if there are turkeys, yelp like a turkey; if there are mice, squeak like a mouse. That's the ticket. Good hunting!

Oh, wear full camoflage, including a face net. Another big thing that can make or break a hunt is the wind. Always call into the wind. Don't hunt if it is blowing 15mph or more.

newman101 Glad to here you are out and about. Went out yesterday afternoon made 4 stands before dark never seen a hair. Guess I will have to wait till next week when I get some days off and try again.

In case U fellers didn't know--Coycaller was raised under a big rock by a family of coyotes. Rumor has it that he has some coyote genes in his DNA. He does somewhat resemble a coyote, what with the greying beard and tireless gait while approaching a calling stand. I gonna head up there next week and see if I can learn anything from this coycaller feller. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Other predators would include the occassional mountain lion, and black bear, but both are protected so don't shoot until they are in mid flight about to land on your hide. Ted Turner is also a possibility concidering the amount of land he has "reclaimed". Probably a few others like sharks but since they're within the confines of Henry Dorly Zoo it would be best not to pursue them either.

I've been wondering what animal been marking territory on my truck tires. Now I know it's Coycaller.

Other predators in Nebraska?

Mountain lions are here. $1500 fine for shooting one.

Black bears are here in parts of the Pine Ridge. Another fine for shooting them.

Feral Cats are everywhere in Nebraska.

Red Foxes are more abundant than ever around Nebraska towns.

Badgers are everywhere. These things are mostly nocturnal.

Gray Fox in the eastern part of the state.

feral cat are great target practice!!!!!
But feral cats are just wild house catsthat should be killed off because they kill rabbits quail and anything they can catch!

And you would think that after spending that kind of money they would let you keep the hide but ooooooh no. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Good hunting.
