Need a new Predator Hunting rifle

EASTERN- I have killed over 250 mostly with a .243. guns last a long time get a Good one. rem 700 hvy barrel with a scope from dicks. .243

If I dont want the hide the 243 is my coyote gun favorite. Hits them like a truck and they dont move. I shot one this morning and blew a giant hole in the side of it. I shoot the 75 grain vmax at 3560 fps. I also like to hear that satisfying whuuuooommmmp on impact. Makes me smile every time.
When I care about hides I shoot the 22-250 and my trusty 204. I like them all for coyotes.

I must admit that I love the .243 as an all around rifle. It is very capable of killing the biggest deer on the planet, and drops coyotes like a sack of potatoes. Many prefer a little less gun when targeting coyotes but it should suite you just fine. I have heard good things about both the Savage and Steven's guns though I have never owned one myself.

None. But in my opinion, you better have a gun that can take care of the largest of the species your hunting because you never know what you may come across.

Thanks for all of the quick reply guys!!!!!

Savages are the best bang for the buck. I like 243 winchester's but 223 are nice, cheaper to shoot. I handload but I pickeed up some 223's by Winchester 45gr JHP 3600fps 40 round value pack. They shot very well hit my 6 in gong @ 200yds.

Next scope buying.

Have fun.

If I can get someone to convince me that this round is as accurate and deadly on 70lb coyotes as the .243, I may buy one.

I don't see why either can't be as accurate as the other.

But I know guys that have been killing coyotes for several decades, and they feel the 223 is marginal.

I often use a 17 Rem or 17 Mach IV. Different strokes for diff folks.

I like the 6mm's too and have a 6XC that I had built just for coyote hunting. Very accurate and deadly, but not in your price range.

I suggest a used Savage 11G or such. Decent glass, and reloads. Never got the accuracy from factory ammo I read many others get.

I like the 9 twist over a 10. It will allow you to shoot up 100 maybe a 105 gr bullet. But it will also still allow the light weight without twisting them apart.

I would go with that rifle you mentioned or a m7 Rem. Just keeping you options open...

I read the title to this thread and thought "I sure hope I never have to say that". I'm sure I will want another one but I don't think I will ever be able to convince my wife that I "need" another one.

I've got my wife convinced that I am going to need a different rifle for different sized coyotes in different states!
HEHEHE!!
Now to decide what to add!

I'm thinking .223 now but when I look at twist rates I'm gonna need 1:7 or 1:8 for a 75 gr. bullet, which means a custom barrel......I just cant win. So in the end, I still dont have a new pred. rifle and I'm stuck on calibers? I'll just wait a while.
