need a spotlight

my old Qbeam is not cutting it anymore. i need a light i can scan long distances with and i prefer a pretty focused beam. ive been looking at a lightforce sl240. its advertised as 1 million candle power, which is much more than the spotlights i have used in the past. is there a better buy for the money or is this lightforce the way to go in this price range? the sl240 is about $140, i dont want to spend over $200. thanks
 
I've got the Lightforce 240. I've used it religiously for the past 3-4 years. Super light, super bright, and has a great focusable beam. It's well worth the money and if I ever lost mine, I'd buy another.

i didn't know the 240 was focusable

im worried ill think the 240 is too bulky, im also worried ill think the 170 isn't bright enough

Plenty bright, a great portable unit. I believe you can purchase the 170 by itself without the portable battery pack. I had one and it worked great. Sold it when gun mounted lights became legal here in PA.
It's not focusable but throws a fairly tight beam. I made a "halo shield" for it that helped direct the beam and prevent any backwash.
 
My buddy bought a black and decker spot light from wal mart for 18 bucks. Its lumen rating is in the 100's but it out performs some of my high dollar lights. Takes C batterys I think and is very portable. Worth a try for 18 bucks I think.
 
would yall rather have a 170 or 240 and why? the 240 is double the candlepower and not much more expensive than the 170.

also, whats the difference in the marine spotlights by lightforce versus the non marine models?
 
i have both the light force 170 and 250 kill light. kill light 100% all the way, wish i had two more. When in a jam, you can use it as a flash light, you dont have to lug around a battery, it charges quick and easy, its literally a no brainer. dont get me wrong, i like my LF, but my money is going to the kill light from here on out. Well, despite what some have said, I pulled the trigger on a Lightforce 240 Blitz and a red filter this morning. Its already shipped from Allpredatorcalls.com! Right on

Hey guys what do you use to charge your lightforce lights? The one I was looking at was the walk about and it said it only came with a " tending charger" for your vechicle, not a wall charger. I saw the Schumaker wall charger on allpredatorcalls.com but it didnt chow a plug to go into the wall. Was just wondering if anyone has tried this product, and maybe get some info before I pull the tigger on a 300 dollar purchase. I also posted this under the lightforce thread but figured I might as well post it in conversation about the lights.
