Need Advice on 17 cal. Berger Bullets

Voldoc02, I am going to have to disagree with ChileRojo on a few points. In my experience, I have found the 25 gr. HP Hornady's to fly well, but they are a harder bullet, less frangible than the Bergers and Genco's. In my experience of shooting Beavers and Coyotes, I have found the Hornady's to be simply a harder bullet than Bergers. Usually, when I skin a coyote shot with a Berger, you never find any noticeable bullet parts or fragments, however, when shot with the H 25 gr. Hp's I would often find the bullet would travel through a coyote or be piled up on the off-side- mushroomed like a big game bullet.
I prefer to shoot Beavers with the Hornady' as they typically, leave smaller holes, especially on head shots.
Hope this helps...

I have shot my 17 rem for 20 years. I did not know there was such a varitey of bullets out there to shoot. I have only shot the Hornady 25gr. bullets. These posts have been very helpful. Thanks everyone for their input!!

Interesting Predgettr, but opposite my experiences? They seldom pass thru our little westerncoyotes,at least no more than any other 17 bullet Ive tried, just depends on where you hit them. I would have thought on those miniature wolves you have for coyotes, they would never pass thru? Here, on these little western coyotes, Ive seen the bergers simply splash a tennis ball sized crater on them if hit in the loin muscle, or other tight muscle group. Most 17 bullets react the same, they are so small, there just isn't that much diffence construction, as there is when your dealing with 22 centerfire or larger calibers. If the bergers are indeed "softer" which I doubt, that would be a negative to my mind, I'd much rather have a pass thru, than a cratered wound and a possible run off?
