I picked these bullets up today 150 and 165 grain hornady. My powder choices are Varget, BL-C2,H4895,Benchmark.Anyone have a good load they use.I am not looking for a hotrod load just a good starting point.I have 3 loading manuals on hand to show max loads. My rifle is a Howa 1500.

You need some IMR-4350 or H4350! Seriously... it is THE choice for 165 and 180 gr. bullets in the 06'.

peterjc's load is a great one.

IMR 4350 is simply a go to powder for the 150,165, and 180g loads with a little bit faster velocity than 4064.

I shoot 59.0g of IMR 4350 with the 150g Hornady and 57.5-58.0g with the 165.

I know that you will love the performance of the 150g Hornady, world class bullet.

+1

IMR 4350 has been my go to powder for 30-06 for many years .

I use 58.5 grains of IMR 4350 with 150 grain Hornady spire points, three shot group at 100yds you could hide with a dime. Haven't had nerve enough to try it again. Rifle was a Remington 721 with a 6 power scope.

I've been using medium load of IMR 4350 and 165 gr Hornady SSTs in my dad's .30-06 with excellent results. He's shot some five shot groups that were amazing and it really did a number on the deer I shot this last year.
