Need help on getting my first bow

Welcome to bow hunting,

Will this bow be used for 3d shoots or archery leagues as well ??

Will you be shooting with your fingers or a release ??

Will this bow be used primarily in a tree stand or ground blind ??

What bows are in your price range ??

Now that you have these questions answered the fun begins !!!!

Now you need to add 250.00 to 500.00 dollars in accessories depending on which brand of the following needed accessories you settle on.

quiver, sight, arrow rest, stabilizer, peep sight, string silencers, broad heads, release aid, bow case and the list will continue.

You have gotten some great advice but you should narrow it down to 3 or so bows and try to shoot each one to see what bow is the most comfortable for you to shoot.

Then you still have to consider which style arrow you want to shoot carbon fiber, aluminum or carbon fiber/ aluminum combo.

Then how will you have the arrows and vanes to consider how will you have them fletched this can matter depending on which broad head you settle on.

Not trying to confuse you or scare you off from bow hunting because once you get into bow hunting it will consume all you free time and alot of your extra cash.

Looking good, try some Shuttle t-locks for broadheads, they fly like field points!

Archery and bowhunting are another addiction of mine...i have had 3 bows this year alone and jsut sold the last one i had it was a Rytera Alien X...awsome bow....now as far as which one...to each their own as far as whats best and so on...that debate goes on and on all the time...i am horrible picky with buying a new bow.....i want it all in one...quiet,fast,forgiving,smooth draw cycle, no hand shock and gotta look good ya know.....i have had bowtech, mathews, high country, parker,Rytera, martin out of all of those the best one i had was the rytera....but im thinkin my next one will be an Elite....they have got the best warrenty out there right now and they stand by their customers the best i have seen.

the best thing you can do is go to a good shop and shoot everything you can and see what fits YOU best....archery is a personal thing...and what works for one guy might not work for another...so find out what you want and go with that

Whatever you do, be sure you get one with the right drawlength for you.

That is where going to a bow shop will be you best bet.

Martin makes quality bows for a good bit less than Bowtech or Mathews which are obviously top bows.

Mathews and Bowtech also spend the most money in advertising and sponsorships as can be seen by turning on the Outdoor Channel or buying a bow hunting video. Those guys shoot whatever sponsors them.

I have a Martin Cougar III Magnum and have killed at least 2 deer a year with it since I got.

Bows are not any different than guns. Some like Savage, Remington, Tikka, Winchester of whatever and depends on who you talk too as to which is best.

All the Drury Outdoors boys shoot PSE now and the kill plenty of whoppers.

I never cared for PSE and never owned one, but I have not looked at one in last several years.

I shot a York (fingers) for about 20 years before I went to the Martin and started shooting a release. Technolgy came a long way between the time I got the York and the Martin.

get a PSE bowmadness, great bow and you not paying 1000 for a window sticker like all the mathews goons, and btw idratherbehunting its a Lore stabilizer you have on that bow, pde is a great bow now that they switched owners, and the bowmadness is one of the lightest fastes most forgiving bows on the market, you cant go wrong with that

You got some good info here, No one can tell you what Bow is best, only you can decide that, (cough PSE cough) No just kidding, I have shot most of the bows out there from High Country to Hoyt, And In my opinion For me I feel My PSE is the best I have ever owned. Fully loaded with Sights, Rest, Quiver, Stab, string leaches, STS, you can pick up a new one for around $500, You will pay more than that for a naked Mathews, Bowtech, or one of the other Big name Bows. in the end it will be you that determines what Bow Chooses you. Good luck and welcome to the Addiction.
