I've noticed lately that there seemed to be some sideward movement in my buttstock. Not much, but it would move a couple of degrees each direction, in a circular, twisting direction (like the threads).
So I unscrewed the stock from the lower, and the bottom side of two threads appear to have been rubbing for some time. The threads in question appear to be close to the spot where the stock would stop threading into the lower, and the nut would be tightened down. In other words, the two rubbed threads are roughly at the halway point of the threads. I wish I could post a pic but my photobucket password and stuff are at work, and I haven't memorized it yet.
So....any thoughts on what would have caused this thread damage on the bottom side of the threaded portion of the buffer tube? Not tight enough from the get-go?
It's a Magpul CTR stock with the Tubb's flat-wire buffer spring installed. This is a two month old rifle with less than 200 rounds fired.
Thanks guys!!
