I got the ok to buy me a pistol to carry in my truck. I am looking at the s&w mp and Springfield xdm. The xdm comes with alot more stuff and a 4.5 match barrel. Does anybody own or shot them please let me know which one is better ty vm

I am an M&P fan when it comes to plastic pistols. The Smith & Wesson is an excellent pistol, rugged, reliable, and accurate. It has everything you need and nothing you don't want and with an excellent lifetime customer service department behind them should you ever need it.

I have with a G22, and I have seen others in my unit have issues. In today's world it isn't really that hard to meet or beat Glock. They have their issues like everyone else.

In my opinion this is a Ford vs Chevy debate. I own an M&P .40 and have shot a XDM .40. Personally, not a fan of the grip safety on the XDM. But again, others have no problem with this. Buy the one that fits best in your hand and don't look back.

You can do the same with S&W fyi.

Exactly. I also like the M&P, but some people drive a Chevy and they get the job done just as well. As a truck gun, it's more a matter of personal opinion and feel.

I'll throw out another suggestion, look at CZ PO7 Duty in 40. Very accurate, very dependable, and you can run them cocked and locked or DA/SA. I've carried one in 9mm as a primary CCW since 2011 and love it.

Xdm has s 4.5 match barrel. I like the case all the other stuff that comes with it. I will reload for mine. A guy give me a bunch of once fired brass. What is a good bullet to load in it? A 1 pd of powder will alot of ammo wouldnt it. I like the looks of the xdm it is all black like to have the green color my friend has the m and p and the other friend has the Springfield pistol both said u couldn't go wrong with either one.

I have had a Glock 23 for almost 20 years now. It has seen thousands of rounds and went bang every time I pulled the trigger. My brother just bought the M&P 40 compact and I have to admit I really liked the way it felt in my hand. It points nicely and balances really well. If you can find a local shooting range that lets you rent guns I would suggest that you try renting a few and shoot them. This is what my brother did. He was set on getting an XD until he rented one. He said it just didn't shoot well for him compared to the S&W or the Glock.

If you buy a g-20 you can shoot 10mm, 40 sw, 357 sig,9x19 dillon 22lr , all from one gun. I had the 40 LW and .22lr AA. Still have the g-20. Never had a jam with 10mm, 40, or .22lr. You can do the same with the g-21 if you prefer 45 acp.

None of the other guns offer that versatility that i know of. However, wish the xd came in 10mm! Shot the 9mm and 40, man do those guns both feel natural and group well for me!

I had one of the first XD's in a 40 when they came out. I had it for about a year and just did not like the "Feel" of this gun, so I sold it. I now have 2 M&P40's, 4.25" barrels both with thumb safetys, I really like this gun alot, and it is with me all the time. I just got the first of 2 M&P40 Shields that I ordered 6 months ago, this gun is a sweet little gun to carry, and the recoil a feel are very good for a small pistol.
As said before it comes down to your basic Chevy vs. ford debate, Good Luck on your choice----Riflemann
