New airgun varmint hunting member.

These are a few of my favorite sites:

Straight Shooters: http://www.straightshooters.com/chat/

Pomona Airguns: http://www.pomona-airguns.com/

Airguns of Arizona: http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/

There are others, but these are folks that I do business with and can recommend.

I'm assuming that you want to look at spring powered guns first, but maybe not. If you can give us an idea of what you want to do with the gun, and some ballpark as to your budget, we can make some suggestions.

Ill take a look at the links a lil later, im at work right now, Thanks!

If a spring gun is what you would recommend for a beginner then i will look at those.
I dont imagine using it for more than groundsquirrels and maybe jack rabbits. Im not sure on how much to spend, but if $300-$400 will get me a decent gun i can do that, will spend more if needed

nice condor dave,
who did the mods for you? it looks like a talontunes to me based on the looks of the shroud but i may be wrong
.....
hard core
you can get decent springers and decent pcp
but with pcp you have to remember you either need to buy a pump (200 bucks) for a lifetime of free air or a scuba tank ( 150-250 depending on size and such) but will have to have it filled
i dont know a ton about springers but i do know there are some good ones as far as pcp there are many great ones airforce has a talon ss which is quiet and powerful and can be modded so many ways
there are the aa410s and all of those ones there is fx, i can go on and on
but in that range id say a good springer is where to start

If you don't mind me asking, who built the gun for you?

Tony from talontunes.com

long wait (18 weeks), but very pleased with the gun.

crowpopper is very correct in mentioning the TalonSS. Quite a nice gun I'd reckon. No, I don't own one but briefly shot a factory stock one and it was FANTASTIC.

Thanks guys for the info, i never knew there was such a world of air rifle hunting out there!

There are a lot of really nice "Modern Adult Airguns" out there. I'm fortunate to own some of them.

Varmint hunting with them is a ton of fun too.

There are many powder-burners out there collecting dust due to the fact their owners now have an air rifle to play with. They are that much fun!

I sold all but my "personal defense" piece... a Marlin 30/30 and I shoot it once a year- maybe. there are sooooo many opportunities to varmint hunt with the air rifle and all close to home.

I still love all rifles but I definitely pick up the air rifle more often, and get to shoot regularly.

HardcoreSlot if you are considering a decent entry level PCP BUTCHER is correct the discovery is not that bad of an option for a first gun and will still leave money in the wallet. Check out www.airgunsofarizona.com they have a video testing the Discovery. It is under the Video links.

If you decide to buy a Disco, buy it from Mac1. He is a third generation airgunsmith, and rubs his magic on each one before the sale.

If you are a willing to spend a little bit more money and want a gun that will put the discovery to shame go with BSA or FX. You will be able to put some of the tightest groups of 10 shots of any gun you have shot with either of those brands and will not be disappointed. I would go with a company who test all of there guns before shipping. (Meaning they will test the fps of the rifle and sight the gun in making sure it is performing like it is suppose to) I have dealt with other small companies who take an order and send out the gun not doing any testing, just to find out when I receive the gun it shoots like crap. Make sure the company gets you a product that has already proven to shoot correctly.

If you are serious call Airguns of Arizona they know what they are talking about and are willing to take the time to talk to each customer and educate those who are not familiar with the airgun world. They only sell the best of the best and will get you the gun that is right for you. I am local and was able to go down to the shop and they have turned me into an air gunner for life.
