I revamped the ole .17 HMR yesterday with a Boyds Tacticool drop in. I put 4 coats of primer that laminate really soaked the paint up. I then taped off the forearm the pistol grip and cheek weld and sprayed flex seal on them. Then I finished it off with Rustoleum camo olive drab. I also stood about 3 feet from the gun and lightly misted the flex seal on the gun. It really added alot of texture to the rifle. I then finished with about 6 coats of Rustoleum flat primer. It really feels alot like my HS Precision on my Savage LRP .243 win.

The reason I stood so far away was that flex seal comes out like water at a carwash. The tip on it is not very fine also so I know that contributes to the problem. But none has come off and it dries surprisingly hard. That may also be the primer. Also I didn't let the flex seal dry completely before I took the tape off. I would call it semi tacky about 15 to 20 minutes with 2 light as you can coats. If you let that stuff dry first you will never get the tape and flex seal to separate like paint
