well went crow hunting the other day and had 6 crows down well i couldnt get em to come in after that so i needed a plan...
i cut the wings off from them and put a 2x4 in the ground at 40 yards thr 2x4 was up 6 feet
i ran a para cord through each wing and made a knot befor and after each wing spread the wings out an even distance
put a ceramic insulator like used with fencers on the top of the 2x4 and ran the cord out to it tied off one end of the cord on a tree 5 feet up and 10 feet from me anr ran the cord around the inulator and back to me makeing a 40 yard "v"
when i yanked the cord the wings "flew" coupled with my crow calls i had em coming in like mad

Sounds like a good plan to me.

You put a lot of effort into it and made it pay off, much like I do with my crow sniping and setting up a blind. It takes some effort, but the reward is nice.

Definitely, a little effort for the reward. You just got to love it. Folks get on me about run'n and gun'n with decoys. Ya, its a lot of work to carry everything, put them out at each stand, but hey you never know when that little bit of extra effort is going to pay off.

CP, next time take a pic for us.

You just gave me a great idea for making wings for my decoys just clip the wings off a crow, stretch out the wings and dry them out, re attache to the decoys.

Thanks!

Crows hate Owls! Yesterday I took the dogs for a walk back to some woods be hide the hay. I thought maybe they kick up a rabbit or might lure a coyote in, as I was dressed in full camo and stealthily slide through the woods. Up ahead some crows where raise all kinds of heck. As I slipped closer I seen a big Owl perched on a branch and the crows, probably 20 to 30 of them, where calling and swooping in at him etc.. As I got closer the owls flew about 20 yards to the edge of a cut bean field and lit in another tree and the crows went absolutely bonkers! More and more showed up. Finally the owl flew out into the field and circle back in be hide me and the dogs, and the crows where diving down at him and circling well after we left the woods. I have a owl decoy that I have hanging in the barn to help keep birds out, I'm going to try putting it out on a fence post and blast some crow sounds on the e-caller.

I've seen the same thing in the summer when I move the hay field and a hawk will show up looking for a rabbit or a rodent that I might flush out into the open for it. Only it's the starlings that are raising Cain with them (hawks).

you are correct crows hate hawks and owls
alot of times ill do a few owl hoots and then hit the crow call that will bring em in
and yes put the owl decoy on a fence post they will dive bomb it etc...
