New England Hunt '06?

accessibility is good that time of year due to it being a snowmobile mecca there are trails every where. The lakes are hard packed and the logging roads are maintained for the most part. Night hunting is permitted with a permit you can purchase for I believe $5.00 this year. I will have all rates, fees and charges posted soon. Also any one can e-mail me at swayback3@netzero.net with questions.

OK try this again. The date for the hunt is Jan 19, 20, 21, 22. non-resident 3 day license is $33.00 and the coyote night hunting permit is $5.00 bobcat season will also be open but cannot be hunted at night. Cabin space is limited and will be at a first come first serve basis. PM me for a list of motels in the area but due to this being peak snowmobile season you have to book early or you won't get a room. You can PM me for any questions. I will keep every one informed as the info becomes available.

Not to step on anyones toes but here's a link that may be of some use.

I'd like to commit to this "Rondy" but can't at this time.
meguide has put you into a very good area.Miles and miles of woods.
I'm famillar with this part of the planet and there's critters scurrying around all over the place. But beware Nothern Maine in the middle of Jan is deadly cold, and the snow in this neck of the woods could be touch-hole deep.
Bring your snowshoes and long johns and a little nip of something to ward off the snow snakes.Heck you can hunt 24hrs a day Mon. to Sat. The fur should be at prime and if you can't have a heap of fun on this picnic, check your pulse.
Good Luck
JS

I for one am very glad to see this happen. I think MEguide needs a big thank you for taking on what is a pretty fair sized job of lining up the info for you.

I would like to see this type of hunt in many areas of the country. Not everyone can make it to the Globe or LBL hunts.A hunt a few hours away for all memebers will make for better friendships and more knowledge shared first hand. That is what we are all about.

So bone up on your winter survival knowledge, check all your winter gear twice, and all of you HAVE A BALL /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Jimmie

skinnerme we will be doing night calling and day calling. Like I said fox and bobcat season is also open at that time. If I have time while I am scouting the areas we will hunt I may just establish a few bait sites, we'll see.

I have not been following this too closely so if this has been mentioned, slap me, but if you want to have an auction or some fund raising to offset the expenses of setting this up, I would be more than happy to donate a couple of calls. Maybe some of the other call makers can too.

Thanx for the generous offer Al,that would be great! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gifI wasn't going to bring it up until we had a better idea how many will attend, but I was hoping to get some door/hunt prizes together and have a raffle/auction maybe as well.As we get a little more organised we can post contact info for anyone wishing to make a donation.Thanx again.

And thank you Jimmie for the "sticky" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Just keep me posted. I might try to make my way up there, but not for sure just yet. The calls will not be a problem though.

A donation for an auction or prize would be great I may just throw in a guided bear hunt for 06 myself. Thank you for the offer.

Hello everyone, haven't been around much. Very happy to see this getting kicked off. I am going to try and bring down three others for this hunt. I will be keeping watching this with interest. Meguide and Grinr thanks for all the work you have done to get this going.

Maineiac. Thanks for checking in. I will keep every one posted on the hunt. I will be passing on iformation as things progress. So far it looks like we will have a good turnout fot the first on. I will be away next week from Sat. to Thurs. moose hunting but will check in when I get back. No electricity where I am going let alone a computer.

Thanks for the update. Do you have any suggestions about a camp to rent? We are thinking about renting a camp at Tea Pond. We would like to stay as near by the group as possible. I checked your area out on #29 of the DeLorme. There doesn't appear to be access problems, most likely we will be bringing sleds. Good luck with the moose. Man there are more than you can shake a stick at here. On the way into work tonight a big bull tried to commit sucide, but my brakes were better than his acceleration.

maineiac. Tea Pond Camps are good, but a little pricey. I do still have room in my camps. PM me and I can give you names and numbers of local hotels with in 5 miles of the camps. By all means bring your sleds, it will give you a definite advantage. ITS 89 literally runs through my driveway. As far as the moose hunt, I am guiding not but sometimes I enjoy that moore than doing the .

meguide just pm'd I am looking forward to hunting your side of the state. I have ITS 83 at mine, well across two fields, just far away that I don't have to hear them.

Hi Guys. I am leaving tomrrow, Saturday, for a moose hunt down east so if there are any questions I will be back on Thursday or you cam pm grinr I have been keeping him pretty much up to speed.

Sounds like a great idea. I definitely want to hear more. Just having finished the 2nd issue of Predator Hunting - Fall 2005, the article Size Matters states and is well documented that from Alaska to Maine there is no state with larger coyotes than Maine. Hunting area should be within short drive relatively speaking of a town with enough hotel room for us all, and lets not forget good food.

There is both within 5 miles of the camps which will be serving as base camps. If a motel is what you are looking for they need to be booked real soon for that is in the middle of snowmobile season and once snow flies there is not a room to be had in the area. we still have room in the camps however.

Be good to get some flatlanders up here in the pucker brush to hunt some real brush wolves /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
