New handgun

Glock factory sights are just slot fillers. You might want to check out some Ameriglo Hackathorns, Heinie's, or some 10-8's. Good luck with the new pistol Gary! Shoot it at night with no ambient light some time. Bye bye night vision! LOL

IIRC you can fix the noise and muzzle flash if you need to.
Just get a factory stock g19 barrel with out the ports.

I gave the nice young man my credit card info, and he is
going to send my FFL a NIB Glock 17 Gen4 with factory(steel)
night sights. I usually just get the regular plastic sighted
Glocks, and replace the sights myself, but in this case it was
either wait on an ordered Glock, or take one in stock with
factory NSs...Guess what my decision was.

I am
not a big fan of 9mm, but I needed one for a couple of
competition divisions, and to use as a demo gun for some
classes I teach. I have a 1000 cases and bullets ready to
get loaded for this pistol, and like a new father, am waiting
for the new Glock baby to be delivered. The new one will
join the three other Glock children running around my
place.

Enjoy the new pistol. How is the ejection on yours? I
have been hearing a bunch of internet chatter about weak
ejection, and was wondering if this was a real trend
in Glocks, or just the usual whining by a couple of prolific
internet posters.

They're great defense rounds, consistent and shoot well. In a 9mm the GDs or HydraShoks by Federal are great!

I posted a thread about a month ago when my Dad bought a G26 asking for some input. I liked it so much that since then, I now own 3 Glocks (Gen 4 21, Gen 4 17 and a G36).

I bought the 17 from my LGS that I trust. It was marked down to a very tempting price and I asked why. He said someone bought it from him and complained about Feeding issues and sold it back. He told me he took it home and shot it and all was fine....and mumbled operator error. I now have a flawless 200 rounds of WWB whitebox through it and it shoots to boot. This will now take the place of my 9mm HK USP.

John- I will look into those sights.

Squeeze, I have put 60 rounds through it so far. Not one hiccup, my gf however has put about 15 rounds through it and 3 jammed. But I can tell by the amount of muzzle flip she is limp wristing it.

Gary, she most likely is limp wristing it. Common problem with new female or youth shooters. A stable platform through the hands, wrists, and forearms are necessary. Without getting too complicated, try to get her to "own the Gun" so to speak. She needs to get a little aggressive with it, more than an adult male would have to. I've seen this countless times with female officers during qual times. The gun also needs to fit hers hands. The grip angle on Glock isn't ideal for everyone, male or female.

I concur with Wishbone's analysis. To risk Glock blasphemy,
if the GF is looking for "her" own pistol, take a hard look
at S&W M&P 9s. I took my wife pistol shopping, before her
first CCW class, and she picked a M&P 9c. We got to the
class, and of the 5 women in the class, three were shooting
M&P 9s. The women with the M&Ps never had a failure. One
woman had a Ruger(SR-9 IIRC) and her pistol ran well. The
fifth woman was trying to shoot her husband's Glock 23, and
she was having a number of stopages. We had a couple of
certified Glock armorers on site, and nothing could be
found wrong with the pistol. I finally lent them some of
my soft shooting match ammo, for one of my 40s, and she
ran without issue. Hubby sent her with full powered SD
ammo...Nice in theory, but not so smart for a novice shooter
struggling with good technique. She was scolding said
Hubby, and last I saw them, they were headed to the store
for a M&P 9c...She tried my wife's and wanted one immediately.
Glocks like a good purchase and a solid grip, M&Ps are more
forgiving.

they are an awesome gun ... ive got mayb 5-600 mayb more rounds through mine and not a single issue , i added a stainless guide rod/spring to add a little weight to keep the slide straighter and bringin the jump down , but unlike you i actually like my g26 better and havent picked up the 19 since when i leave the house ...lol.. there like AR's u can add anything to them ...lol...

Best two things to get for your glock are a 22lr conversion kit from advantage arms or tac sol. Also a 3.5lbs disconnector and polish the trigger there are many instructional videos on youtube.

Almost as sweet as a G20 or 29!
