Recently got some new Hi Cap mags for 10/22 type made by Shooters Ridge. 25 rd 22 mag and 25 rd .22 LR. Have tested them in several rifles and have not experienced any problems with them yet. The .22 mag version is a little tight in my Butler Creek stock but functions fine.

Looking at the Ruger 10/22 Mag . How well do you like the gun ? It does seem to have more after-market add-ons than the other brands. Thanks. Mark

Someone had told me that they were having problems with the Ruger 10/22 22mag ,if anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it . Thanks

I have had 10-22 since the 1970's all my kids learned to shoot with them they are great and pretty tough litle rifles. I have always used factory standard mags though

As you probably know the 10/22 mag is no longer in production from Ruger due to low reliability centered mainly around spent shell ejection problems commonly referred to as stovepipes. This was an issue that Ruger failed to address properly and could never fix entirely although they tried different solutions, most notably, a second ejector on the inside of the bolt but that did not fix things and as a matter of fact created a different issue of the the inside ejector coming lose and damaging the bolt during live fire.

However this should not scare you if you are looking for a 10/22 mag. The guns can be made extremely reliable with a simple and cheap fix. Volquartsen manufactures replacement ejectors which replace the factory ejector and cures the problem. Also installing a quality bolt buffer greatly improves longevity. Many other things could be done but as far as reliabilty is concerned those would cure most of the problems and can be done for approx. $20 - $25.

I just modded one this year, simple to work on and is a great shooter and very accurate. The problem is finding a good used 10/22 mag for a decent price today. They all seem to go for big bucks. A great resource for 10/22 questions is rimfirecentral.com.

Thanks for the info. Dawg gone ! I was unaware they were out of production. Seems like I've been a day late for awhile now. Have seen the price tags you mention. Would make a great close range calling gun though. I will keep looking.

These are 25 rd'ers for the .22 mag. My 10/22 mag is one of the first ones produced and it shot very well out of the box. I put a Butler Creek HB stock kit on it and it still shoots very well.

I learned to shoot with the 10/22 and I had purchased a pair of them for my nephews about 3 years ago. I still had a few of the old hot lips mags from Ram-Line. I did buy a few of the Eagle 30 rounders. The have plastic lips but the work flawlessly. I thought about the .22 mag but it got a little pricey. I think this a great and versitile gun that is fun as hell to shoot.

i can buy butler creek 10-22 hi-cap clips at bi-mart for $15 on sale here in oregon. the only problem with my 10-22 is i have to use cci's or it jams every 5-10 rounds. never had any problems with the plastic feed lips
