I met a young man at one of my Pro Staff gigs that talked to me about predator hunting... he was all of 14 and was VERY interested in hunting coyote and bobcat. His father was not around, so he had no one to take him. I asked him to sign up for the MSPCA and that I would make sure he would go hunting. Well... he took one of the newsletters and a couple articles I wrote on turkey predation and on predator sign. He called me a few weeks ago and asked if I had a gun that he could use. I told him "yes"... He is taking his hunter education classes this summer and will be ready this fall. I rigged him up a sweet little predator gun! Check it out...

Good for you, helping out the younger generation understand what it's all about.
You will make an impact on that young man that will last you both a lifetime..

I recently got a small fishing boat and have really enjoyed taking youngsters out fishing that probably don't get the chance very often. The kids are really having fun pounding the small crappie right now.

That rig ought to be the cats meow for short range calling...I'm going to go to a Red Dot on my AR when 'yote season rolls around again.
 
My dad always used to say "Keep him in the woods and off the streets".

I think I turned out just fine. (Don't ask my better half that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif). She thinks I'm a little obsessed with it. I tell her I'm not, because I think about other stuff (not related to hunting, fishing, shooting); sometimes up to 10 minutes per day...

It's more fun to watch a kid on his first succesful trip than kill 20 yourself. I'm sure he will remember you for a long time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
 
Thats a lucky 14 year old young man!! And I am anxiously awaiting pictures from the 1st hunt. I don't care if you shoot anything other than the breeze. I just wanna see the lights in those eyes!! Good Luck to the both of you!
