This afternoon at 02:00 PM in North Dakota and central United States ... (21:00 UTC +02 in Europe) Live on Facebook INFIRAY for the worldwide presentation of a new thermal observation device with optical zoom. Just like a traditional lens riflescope. With the optical zoom the problem of grainy images caused by the digital zoom will be solved ... Please, if possible, follow the live broadcast in English (which unfortunately I do not understand) and then let me know what they say and write yours impressions. It seems that Infiray wants to go ahead of everyone ...

Maybe you should have logged in with your Facebook account. I followed the live broadcast, of course I didn't understand almost anything. They didn't give many technical details. However, on the Infirayoutdoor website they have inserted the new Infiray ZH38 device. Here you can read the features ...

They put the price on a German site: 3099 € with the current exchange rate 3621 $

Some interesting ideas. Looks a lot like a Pulsar Helion body style. Dual FOV is interesting as well as a shutterless NUC. Time will tell.
 
I've done some calculations:
With 1.6X zoom the focal length becomes 19 mm; the FOV is 22.9°x18.4° (really very wide); the HLFOV is 40.4 yards at a distance of 100 yards; of course the pixel density on the observed image decreases a lot ID = 251 pixel / square yard.
By positioning the optical zoom at 3.2X the focal length becomes 38 mm; the FOV is 11.5°x9.2°; the HLFOV is 20.2 yards at 100 yards; the value of ID = 1003 pixels / square yard.
Can you explain the meaning of

(Sorry I'm getting old and I don't remember the meaning of the acronym NUC ...)

Finally, Boris should be asked if Bering Optics will also launch this device with its own brand and software.

(Sorry I'm getting old and I don't remember the meaning of the acronym NUC ...) Non-Uniformity Correction (NUC) is a non-uniformity compensation coefficient which is factory-calibrated to maintain high image quality on thermal cameras. When you use your Pulsar or iRay, it is the flash you see on the screen, and the image typically looks better after. Some companies call it Calibration.

I assume shutterless means, you won't even notice the thermal calibrating or NUCing or maybe it will somehow not need to based on some new technology.
 
Kino M .... if you have read carefully what I wrote on the other post ("Iray vs Super Yoter specs") you will have understood that the Super Yoter (= Rico RH50) is fantastic and almost unbeatable.
Looking at that little church
on the mountain is 1500 yards away.... only with the Rico RH50 (= Super Yoter) I could understand that there were 2 windows and a door ... With the Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 (which gives us a fantastic view) and with Infiray E6 Pro V3.0 I could only see the white facade. I don't think there are any other thermal riflescopes at this level for long distance shooting right now. So take care of your Super Yoter, which is an exceptional top of the range and is by no means obsolete!

Haha!!! Earnest I was only joking, I'm super excited to get my Super Yoter and to my understanding it will be this coming week possibly!
 
Korey.... Thanks for the explanation. In the thermal device menu you can choose automatic, semi-automatic, manual recalibration. I think it is better to set the automatic NUC, even if at times it could be annoying and if it is activated at the moment of the shot it could make you miss the POI ...

Kino M .... I didn't doubt you were joking ... especially after Kirsch's reassurance ... The Bering Optics Super Yoter (= Infiray Rico RH50) has an unbeatable value for money ratio. After that brief daytime comparison test, myself and the Infiray dealer (who also sells the Pulsar) were literally shocked and surprised. We did not want to believe that the Thermion 2 XP50 and the Infiray E6 Pro V3.0 (which are two top of the range) could not detect in any way (even using all possible adjustments) the windows and the door of that little church. Instead the Rico RH50 (= Super Yoter) was able to detect them !! It really is crazy! Think I couldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes! I would like to do a real header and buy the Rico RH50 (I can have it for the equivalent price of $ 4379) before selling the Thermion 2 XP50 (which I have not yet mounted on the rifle), to make comparisons even at night as well as during the day. But this would be a rash and economically dangerous choice for 2 reasons: 1) I am afraid that the Chinese may launch the new Infiray RH50 "Pro" model with the new sensor with NETD

I realize it is so tempting to go after the newest object. You know I really enjoy the iRay sensor in the Bering Optics products. However, I would not look to sell your Pulsar (if you like it) due to one test where you saw something with the Rico that you couldn't see with the Pulsar. If this happens a lot, then maybe, but will it make a significant difference in your success as a hunter? What I am trying to say is by chasing the best possible image, you will be spending a lot of money for potentially minimal gains. If you desire the increased magnification, then it makes sense. If you switch because you saw a detail in an image one night, I would possibly think about it for awhile.

I also believe many iRay and potentially Bering products in the future could be impacted by both
 
.... You are the voice of reason .... this is not the time to make head shots ... A detail seen from a great distance in full sun cannot make text. After all, the thermal is used at night .. and certainly not fired at 1500 yards. The vast majority of shots are 50 to 150 yards ...

However it is true ... the Chinese are moving in the direction of Netd
