New IR Illuminator really perfomed well for us over the weekend

I have been getting a lot of questions on Ian's T20 compared to the rip off labs light..So here is the skinny..
The LLTL-001 and the irlightbuilds T20 are both the exact same illuminator.(Other then the Price...

) Only difference is the parts used in making the pills to ir may be different. Sit them both together and you have a mirror image of each other with different writing on the tubes. The driver used in the LLTL-001 is a 1000mA driver. The T20 from irlightbuilds uses a 1050mA, one battery driver or a 1050mA two battery driver. The one battery T20 from irlightbuilds has a more powerful output than the LLTL-001 using one or two batteries.
I also find it ironic that the LIGHT TECHLAB light available on eBay from the "US distributor" is also from IL.
Hmm...Family Guy..please clear my suspicion this is not you.?

Nice shooting !

The lights are very bright from what I have heard for gen3, more suited to digital NV or gen1 which need the strong IR to "wake them up" . Guys in the UK are leading the way with the digital NV stuff

Have any of you built your own illuminators like Hard ware mentions? I'm curious how difficult it would be to build the T20, especially if parts are under 60.00
Does it require specialized equipment to build an IR illuminator?

Thanks to Family Guy, we picked up one of these units and have been testing it in the field for the last few weeks. It truly is one of the better ones we have run across that are legal for purchase by civilians.

I have 2 of Ian's lights in 940nm. They really do work and you can get them here in the states for under $100. Hard Ware shared a link with me on an inexpensive doubler for these lights. Here is a link to my how to on the doubler build.

I guess I can't link to another forum? So here is the total thread.
A lot of night hunters are using the UniqueFire T20 light. Thanks to Hard_ware, he shared this easy and inexpensive mod to increase the lights range by about 25%. The parts are a camera adapter that adapts from a Panasonic LX3 lens to a 52mm filter thread, and a 52mm thread 2X telephoto lens.

The camera adapter fits tightly over the bezel of the T20. The press fit requires the use of a vise or a clamp. Here the adapter was started by hand then transfer to a smooth jaw vise to squeeze it further down the bezel. Warning, you should remove the T20 bezel from the host before placing in a vise or clamp.

Shown here are a stock light, then a light with the adapter attached and lastly with the 2x telephoto lens mounted.

Here is a video of before and after using a 940nm pill in the T20 host. Camera Zoom is out all the way so the whole beam can be seen. I zoomed the lens about half way through the video. The first light is without the doubler.

Hello All,

I've been testing LLTL (Ebay) for two months and the width of the beam is great for gun and helmet. I turn on both the LLTL IR and the Luna IR. I set the Luna IR beam a little bigger than the size of the animal and set the LLTL wide, (enough to cover the scope fully at low power). I do this so I can pick up the animal at low power and not lose it. When I am ready to shoot, most of the time I zoom fast (switchview throw lever) and get a real nice luna ir picture. Luna is better than LLTL when cutting through tall grass, snow etc and when zooming the scope to high power, but I really need both ir's on the gun. Depending on the conditions I sometimes shut off the LLTL.

I have tested the LLTL with two day scopes so far. Swarvorski and Hawke.

LLTL does give me a little IR glare when looking through pvs 14 and day scopes at high power range, but it's worth every penny and a plus to any night hunters arsenal. The glare is similar to the eagletac IR.

The LLTL-001 is working well with my home-made night vision, so well in fact that I sold my Gen 1 scope. I do hope to get either the new ATN X-Sight or the Photon once the reviews pour in, and I'm betting the light will work great for those two as well.
