New Leupold RX rangefinder

I got the first one (RX4) that Midway got in. In fact, they still don't have any. I got it for a friend of mine who does not want to learn how to use a MilDot.

I used it a few times, it has a lot of bells and whistles. Different reticles (13) for anything you want to use. Ranging was fine, the most distant so far was a small building at a little over 900 yds. I am going to borrow it when I go out to shoot prairie dogs next month. I really like the inclinometer built into it. It saves a bunch of figuring to get the true range.

I am still sticking with my MilDots though. Call me old fashioned, but I like MilDots, and a compass and map. I guess someday I will break down and get a GPS and a rangefinder.

If I were buying one for myself, I would get the Leupold RX4 without a second thought.

There was a writeup on it in either the "American Rifleman" or "Varmint Hunter" recently. I can't remember which. Apparently there are two models and the article said the cheaper model was a better buy.

I have the RX-III. The only difference between the III and the IV besides the extra hundred dollars is the compass that the RX-IV has. So far I think that for under $400 it is the best rangefinder out there. At least that is my $.02 worth.
