New Mad Heavy Metal Box Call

I was at Bass Pro in Nashville yesterday and tried one of the Mad Heavy Metal Box calls. I couldn't believe how well this call sounded and it is water proof and requires no chalk . I had to purchase one and i hope it sounds as good to the turkey as it did to me. The box is Aluminum and the lid is wood with a waterproof fricton coating. Has anyone else tried one of these calls? If not, and you like a box call , you need to take a look at this one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have never heard a good sounding MAD call of any sort. If this one sounds as good as you say, that'll be a first.

Bea175,

I got the Aluminator pot & peg when they came out. It's brought at least a half dozen gobblers to the gun. It doesn't sound great to my ears, but who cares. There have been some mornings where they wouldn't answer anything else. MAD's first attempt at an aluminum box call was a disaster. Good luck with your new toy!

I have never liked Mad calls but this one sounded to good to past up. It may not call a gobbler, but i guess i will find out real soon. What sounds good to our ears may sound like crap to a gobbler. You just never know until you try it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

bea,
I wasn't doubting your ear, my comment was about the company as a whole. I have a hard time liking those two boys and haven't seen much of anything they've brought to the hunting world that was of much use. More than any other company MAD seems to play on hype and BS, remember their "Silent Locator Call" that was no more than a silent dog whistle. They hyped the whole frequency thing until I knew I didn't want to hear anymore of it. I was hoping it was out of a humans hearing range because the stuff I heard with thier name on it sounded just plain bad. Anyway, I hope you knock those old longbeards stiff with the call.

Can't say I disagree with that GC. Drury sold the company but still collects royalties, I heard. I guess your fellow Missourians didn't "show you" enough. LOL

They own a big farm up in north Missouri and I hear some pretty sorry stories about their behavior up there in that area.
