New Rem .17 Fireball Gun & Ammo

Thanks for the pics and the information . I'm looking forward to hearing more about your rifle and how it shoots .

I have a 17 Fireball on order through a local dealer and it hasn't showed up yet . I'm getting pretty anxious !

Thanks - VERY PRETTY. I like the tan color on the stock.

Called Remington again yesterday (I have them on speed dial /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) and they said April for the 700 CDL Ltd.

Called Redding and they said April for the dies.

Called Hornady and they have the dies IN STOCK (list $39).

Rem says no empty brass until '08.

So I ordered a Redding #1 form die, which is currently available, a set of the Hornady dies, and 200 pcs of 221 FB brass.

When the gun gets here, I want to have brass already made and loaded with starting loads.

Let us know how yours shoots when you get a chance.

Remington has made some "iffy" rifles over the years, mostly due to lousy barrels... but I bought a .264 WM Sendero II Stainless Flutie last year and it shoots like a custom match rifle, so I have high hopes for this little puppy...

What is the case length, unfired and fired??

Hey we's-all going to need shooting report with pic. I have the 221 fireball and if i see and hear good report i'm going to have to get one too pair up with 221 FIREBALL!!! So fare it's sounding good, but i'm going to have to wait till everything come into stock-brass-dies etc..etc..
 
I hope to have something for you guys soon. Got called in to the office today and did not get to shoot it again! Looks like Friday will be my next chance.

Remington shipped a few of the 700 CDL Ltd. out last week along with the SPS, SPS Varmint, VSF, I have not seen any of the 7 CDL, and ammo is allready out.

Could be that they are hedging their info so as to not anger a customer if it didn't get there through the distributer/dealer chain by the promised date. They don't know how many orders the distributer has, or where I am on the dealer's list...
 
I don't know about ammo but I ordered another .17 Fireball in SPS Varmint. Distributor had 14 of them yesterday. Have not see ammo out yet.
 
I have 30 boxes of ammo 2 sps varmints, 1 sps, and I am next in line for a CDL Ltd. And I can not decide if I want to order in a VSF, I know where 2 of those are.

I talked with Booger earlier through a PM, then I contacted my local dealer. He stated that he could get me an SPS or VSF right away, but that the CDL Ltd. would not be out for a while. He did advise that his distributor had 1000 boxes of ammo. I ordered five boxes.

Sorry but I am a dealer and don't plan on shooting one until I decide which one I want to own, I am saving the guns that I have for a gun show thats coming up. can't decide between the limited and VSF.

My dealer, who is a buddy of mine, just called and said that he has three SPS Varmints and fifteen boxes of amunnition coming. He said that he should have them by Monday. He said that he doesn't have any buyers yet and that he would hold one of them for me if I want it. I advised him that I would take a look.

I may have to get one to hold me over until the CDL Ltd. comes out. After all, I have a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 just sitting in the safe collecting dust.

I got my 700 SPS Varmint .17 Fireball in today. Will try to shoot both rifles and see what they can do tomorrow if the wind slows below 30 mph around here!
 
I just saw a Rem 700 SPS at the local gun store. It wasn't the Varmint just the regular sporter. But they didn't have any ammo for it and It would just kill me to have a factory chambered rifle that I could not shoot, no cartridges, no reloading dies, etc...
