hey folks, i just got 2 new rifles- the TC Venture Predator .223 with 22" barrel and a Savage 22 mag. i have never broke in a barrel before, for those of you that do this what's a good method you all use?

i've never done this before, i've always just cleaned my guns well and taken care of them. my plain jane dpms ar-15 i just started shooting and cleaning it regularly and have put close to 1000 rounds through it, and yesterday was hitting 8" steel seated off bipod shooting sticks pretty consistent, and it zero's well under 1" at 100 yards. my point- i never really thought it was that important but im open to doing it if it is.

There was a long thread on barrel break-in about 10 days ago - use the "search" and read it.

Barrel break-in is a myth.

All breaking in does is reduce the life of your barrel. A cleaning rod can do WAY more damage than bullets can. After a couple hundred rounds any burrs will be slicked forward or blown out. Clean it when it accuracy starts falling off, which is often a lot longer than you think it should be.
