New Rifle-Rem 700 or Sako

No argument going on here whatsoever. I was merely stating FACT, not opinion. And it seems both sides have handled it in a quite civil manner. Thank you for your attempt at playing moderator though, nonetheless. And I would like to think he IS gaining something from this.

KPK--As per your statement "I don't throw out opinions/options on something I haven't owned", all I can say is "Thank you". It is most appreciated, by myself anyway, and others I'm sure. It takes me NO TIME to to sniff out a poser. And posers are what give gun forums a bad name.

I guess if you stick up for something, or at least dispute fallacies regarding that thereof, it makes you a "fan". All I care about is truth and ACTUAL EXPERIENCES. I must be a "fan" of a LOT of makers, as I have over 100 firearms currently, have owned over twice that many, and 700s only represent about 7-8 right now.......

I love my Sakos, and my 700s. But in this particular case, I'd buy a 700, install a custom tube with the right damm twist in it, and be at or below the cost of a Sako..........

I own both. I really like my Remington but it's not the gun the Sako is. The Sako is a nicer gun by any measure ... but it ought to be since it's 2X the price. Is it worth the extra money? I guess only you can answer that.
 
Ok.....I have a Tikka 22-250 that groups 1/2" to 3/4" at 200 yards. I have replaced all of the plastic and put a real stock on it....Not the plastic, yes I said plastic, one that comes with it. it is a great gun but does not like anything over 55 grain. It absolutely love Superformance. I have developed some hand loads that also shoot well with about the same velocity.

By the time you trick up the T-3 Varmint in 22-250 having metal bolt shroud, real bottom metal and magazine plus a good stock you will have $1600 to $1800 in the gun. It is not versatile with 1 in 14 twist although it does fantastic with 50 to 55 grain bullets.

Next....I was walking through Gander Mountain the other day and there was a SAKO XS Varmint Stainless in .223. I could not pass it up. $1850 walk out. Great gun but it has 1 in 10 twist. Still a little limited if you want to shoot the longer bullets. Just finished breaking in. So far at 100 yards Black Hills 40 grain had .150 center to center group this afternoon. Superformance followed with.180 center to center group. I have now fired 65 rounds through the Sako. I am impressed but I have noticed that when I start reloading for it I will be limited to factory OAL due to the magazine. Unless....of course...if I want to load one at a time..

I LOVE both of these rifles. Still have some work to do on the Sako...have to chrono and develop some reloads.
