I like what 5spd said. Thats the smartest thing i have heard all week. The 308 is great if your over in the sand box hunting people not varmints or coyotes.

When those other calibers start to outsell the 308 in that type of rifle, I'm sure they will. Until then, it'll be introduced in 308, and the other calibers will follow. Bringing one out the other calibers first, with the current demands of "AR-10"-style guns and parts, would cater to only a relatively few hunters and shooters, comparatively.
 
Im just saying that a 308 in an ar type platform is overkill for most predators. And everyone likes a nice pelt every now and then.
 
Yeah, it is too heavy and powerful as a predator rifle but I want one for other reasons. The lines remind me of a Sturmgewehr.

This rifle isn't geared at all to predator huntnig, but it will double as a coyote rifle if one wants to shoot a piston AR10 at coyotes.

308 will outsell all other AR10 platform calibers 10:1 which is why they are releasing it in that caliber first. It would be dumb of them to do any other caliber off the bat. 308/7.72x51 has the most available ammo other than 223 on the market.

We haven't seen anything about Ruger coming out with other calibers yet. They have been well received in 308 though and are a pretty nice rifle for the money!
