Don't know what barrel length you have but if it is 24-26" you should be around 3800 FPS with the 22.5 grain load. You are a little over book max with the 23 and especially the 23.5 grain Varget loads, but I rather doubt you are going to hurt anything by using it.

Varget is my favorite powder for my .17 Remmy. Killed lots of ground squirrels and quite a few prairie dogs with it.

I have a Sako 75 in 17 em but I have only shot 25gr bullets out of it.

Sorry I can't help. If I didn't have so many 25gr Bergers and Hornady's I'd like to try the 29 grain'rs, if they would shoot out of my barrel.

If those Kinders shoot good then keep using them. Good thing about Varget is that it is hard to overcharge a case using it. Fill it up to the top, seat a bullet on top of it and go to shooting.

I have quite a few .17 caliber bullets on hand and have tried most of them and overall the 20 and 25 grain Vmax's have shot the best in the last couple of .17's that I owned.

Tim - thanks for the vmax. Your new rifle looks nice. mine is shooting great for a factory barrel . i did not take the chro no to the range, it would have eliminated my question. i did not get any pressure either.

Rusty- you are right. my mistake totally. the loads i shot were 21.5, 22 and 22.5. not the the higher ones. i editing my original post if i can. i do not shoot prairie dogs so i want to get all the soup i can with out going over board. i could have saved this by just taking my chrono. i will do that hopefully in the near future. thank you. ron
