Seems like somebody made a comment about a new Savage that was due out soon. It's not on their website. Does anybody have specs or a pic? I'll settle for a rumor at this point.

hey dime I think this is what you are looking for. This is the only Savage camo gun I have seen talked about on here. I tried to paste the link for ya but I cant seem to get it done. The website is predatorxtreme.com and the article you are looking for is on the home page. Its called the "Perfect Predator Hunter". Later

I was just fixin to make a post about the same thing. What I've seen about the rifle is it's supposed to be a long range gun. The empties come out on the left and the bolt handle is on the right side.
I would like to know if it is a single shot or does it have a magazine.

THE NEW PREDATOR HUNTER FROM SAVAGE
Featuring the revolutionary AccuTrigger and full camo coverage

November 21, 2006—Savage Arms, legendary for out-of-the-box accuracy, introduces the latest to its 10 Series of centerfire rifles—the Predator Hunter. Designed by professional predator callers, The Predator Hunter features a 22" medium contour barrel, synthetic stock w/ rounded forend and oversized bolt handle; and brings a whole new element of accuracy to predator shooting. The entire stock, barrel, action, trigger guard and bolt handle will be dipped in Mossy Oak Brush pattern camo to help evade detection by even the wiliest of predators.

The predator Hunter also features the AccuTrigger, adjustable from approximately 1 ½ to 6 lbs, and allows the shooter to easily adjust trigger pull without having to pay a gunsmith to adjust it—a feature exclusive to Savage Arms.
Chambered in the popular 22-250 and 223 Ruger, the new Predator Hunter provides tack-driving accuracy powerful enough for dispatching predators and other game.

Hey Michael I think the gun you are thinking of in the "Long Range Precision" and it does have the right bolt-left port. I have seen those guns in Gander Mountain and unless you are shooting of bench or a good rest they are to heavy to carry, for me anyways. I might be wrong about the gun you are talking about, but someone else may be able to clear it up. Later

Yep, that's the one. Nowhere is the weight mentioned. If it's like other Savage bolts, it will be too heavy for Eastern carry rifle. Sure would have liked it better in .17 Remington or new .17 Remington Fireball.

The Savage Mod. 40 Varmint Hunter is a Laminated Stock with a 20 " Heavy Barrel & Accu-Trigger

The Mod. 10 FCM Siera Ultralight is a Bottom Detach Mag., Pillar Bedded 20" Barrel available in 243, and larger.

The Pred. is the latest of the three newest and is basically the same as the Sierra Ultralight, only it has the accu-trigger and the other calibers.

The Long Range Precision Varminter is the Mod.12 and has the Extra Heavy BBL. Left hand ejection port, SINGLE SHOT, 26" Stainless BBL in an H-S Precision Stock. Available in 223, 204 Ruger nad 22-250

This is from my latest dealer catalog. The price on the Sierra and the Predator Hunter is a good one. The new mod 12 precision is pricey and too heavy unless your on a rest or bipod at all times. I'm not sure what they're selling for retail so it's a good idea to really shop the price on the new Mod. 10's! Usually there isn't too much mark up on a gun unless it's highly desired, limited production or has a lot of hype along with it's name. Example; in handguns the Kimber line leaves a lot of room for margin. A Taurus for example does not, nor do many others these days. The profits are made in accessories!!! For example; a FoxPro Caller!!!

I too am looking at the Model 10 Predator Hunter. Then again, I may go on the cheaper end with the rifle and put the savings into my optics. I'm new to pred. and varmint hunting and though I have an FFL, I'm living on a small disability pension so each dollar counts! The FFL is a hobby not a business(only because I don't have the cash to make it a regular bus!). If you have questions as to what is on the market or options, etc let me know and if I can get the info to you via my catalogs or POS info, I will. That's what I enjoy about having access to the info via my license.
Anyone shoot one of the new mod 10's yet?!

I forgot to add this; Savage makes several rifles in packages or alone that are pillar bedded (usuallyu dual pillar) and fully free floated. These rifles may not be much to look at but they shoot well and are reasonable in price! You can take the cheap scope off and either give it away or sell it for about $50 easily. Makes for a nice rifle that you don't have to worry about messing up or ruining with camo paint or tape. Just my 2 cents worth.
I've sold and shot a few in various calibers and they're not bad at all! In fact, they have a light weight one that comes in at about 6.75 pounds with a 3-9x33 scope! Figure on tossing the scope, rings and mounts. They aren't that great but would be fine on a truck gun or a beginner's gun. I swapped mine out for a Nikon I got a great deal on and Millet rings and a Weaver 1 pc. base. The base was not my first choice but I was forced to settle though it works fine. Normally I would have gone with Leopould base and quick release rings. Just my opinion based on what I use the guns for, what I've seen and can afford. As always, I welcome anyone's opinions and input.

I would also love to have this gun in a 17 Fireball. Does anyone have any idea when guns(any brand) will be available in the new caliber.

Not to jump the thread, but at the bottom of the above page is a good article about Rich Higgins and Noon time coyote hunting.

I'm going to start looking for the new Savage.. Maybe that barrel would move over to my 16... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now that is the rifle I've been waiting for! Leave it to Savage to come up with such a good idea. It looks like my "want" list has just changed a little, this new model will be moved up to #1 on the list I think. I can't wait to see a picture of it to see how the camo looks on it. Now I have to decide if I want one in a .204 or a .223........decisions, decisions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Has anyone actualy had their hands on one of these? I have tried to find one at our locals, Cabela's, Gander Mountain, Sportsmans warehouse etc., no one has seen one.

Here's a pic I posted a couple weeks ago from SavageShooters.com:
