well i just bought my brothers christmas present today a savage stevens 22-250 and a box of federal classic 55 pointed soft points. Adjusted the trigger to take out the over travel and lighten it up abit. Noticed the safety kinda grinds when disengaging it but im hoping that will subside as it gets broken in. I will report back with the accuracy of this gun, i leave you with a couple of pictures.

Oh yea the gun cost $319.95(canadian prices)

Better try it out first.....
Just to be sure it works, dontchaknow! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

yea no doubt man...i did the "drop gun on buttpad while cocked" with safety and no safety with no ill effect, banged it every which way and it seems to be fine.

Does it feed and extract/eject OK? Better try that at a range or at least outside.
Who has it for that price? The cheapest I have seen is $330.

no... No.... NO.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
That is NOT what I ment by "testing". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif
You must be a new kid to the sport, huh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Testing means you go out and shoot it!
At the range.....
At coyotes....
Minimum 250 rounds.
It ain't a proper present if it ain't broke in! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

ok ok dont have to be condiscending about it ...i was talking about the trigger adjustment factor and the testing i did to make sure it functions safely BEFORE shooting it, not just go shoot it after alterations mr.expert. The feeding/extracting works as good as a pushfeed with plunger ejection is gonna get, have no problems.

I was at a gun show this weekend and got a good look at the Savage/Stevens rifles cheap quality takes on a new meaning,I haven't seen a stock like that sciene Remington made the nylon 66 The inside of the action has so many milling marks you could hardly pull the bolt back and forth rough is an understatment, it was more than one. You get what you are paying for don't complain.

I've been thinking about looking at the stevens for my next coyote gun in 22/250 so please let us know what you think of it after your brother shoots it

They shoot good this is my option I have a lot of custom made pre-war mausers and per 64 winchesters My first coyote gun was a winchester Model 43 in a 22 hornet I still have the gun it is worth 8 times what I gave for it At the time I bought it I could have bought a savage in a hornet for half what the winchester cost the same savage today is worth about one third of what the 43 is worth plus never had a problem with the 43 works a soomth and shoot like it did many years ago. What I am tell you is it is hard to put a price on quality you will get what you pay for Dewey

270yotekiller,

What a great present-wish I had a brother like you! I had to buy my own. Mine's in .223 and I like it. It's a perfect mate to my Savage .270 deer rifle. For me, simple is good. I like having the same safety, etc. on both of my center-fires.

Maybe none of my business, but dont take ME the wrong way. I don't think she meant to be condescending; I believe the posts were meant in a humorous vein.

Everyone have a good day, now.

OTR

Yea i was having a bad day when i responded to that post. i shouldnt have never responded in such a defensive way but all said and done, moving on. I hope my brother gets some groups on paper for me so i can update the post.
