Finally got it finished took me awhile to round up all the peices to get it done. I work at a landfill so this whole thing is basically throw away stuff. Right down to my reciever hitch cover.

Very nice! I had a gambrel custom made for me from stainless steel that is good for deer and small critters, can't wait to get it!!

k23, Nice work!

Not being critical here, but....... How do you hang a critter on, unless you skin both hinds on the ground? Personally, I don't wanna bend over that long......

The critter is hung as soon as one tendon is exposed....

. How do you keep them spread, with that straight bar? I like to keep their legs apart when knife work is required around the genitalia......That is the reason for the lower dropped area at the hooks. I have a pair of short chains to narrow the spread, when doing little critters like marten, mink and weasels.....Don

Thats right I looked at it awhile and figured that out, Im gonna bend it so it has that angle on it to keep the legs spread. Thats kinda the first flaw I found on it. I knew someone was gonna ask me about that so it got fixed

I made something like that... Only thing i did different was mounted a winch near the bottom. Also put a pulley wheel in the corner at the top and at the end. Then ran a rope from the winch through both pulleys and connected a gambrel to it. I use it for deer! I used all scrap metal that i found on our farm! It works great!

Your gambrel looks a little thick for going between tendon and leg bone. You can buy or make one for little money. Mine is about a 1/4" thick, sharp on the ends to help slide it in. It is good to have a swivel so you can rotate as you work.T.20

Its actually a close up picture I havent sized it but Im guessing 1/2....it really isnt to big of rod its about the same size as huntsman22's outfit. And Ive got it where is swivels and your right it helps alot
