New to wolf hunting

I live in NW Ontario and want to get into wolf hunting. I'd like to call them rather than having a bait site. I trap wolves on the trapline, but have never hunted them. Would appreciate any advice and direction that can be offered.

What calls are good? There are no deer or cottontails in our region, which is most of the calls I see. We only have moose and snowshoe hares. Would calls that mimic a fawn or cottontail in distress still be effective or would they be useless because they are not indigenous to our region?

Is the main idea to sit and call? Or is it a mixture of calling and stalking once you locate some?
If you do just sit and call would bringing some moose blood or wolf urine be helpful to draw them in or cover my scent?

I plan on hunting in the middle of winter when their fur is prime. Any special considerations with being on snowshoes and hunting in deep snow?

Just looking for some help to get started. Thanks

If you cannot sound like food you will have to sound like a wolf. Biggest problem wolves have to be close enough to hear you and they cover alot of ground. How long does it usually take for a pack to return to a set location?

And don't get caught up on certain distress sounds not being indigenous to your area. Jackrabbit (or any rabbit for that matter ) is close enough.
Any deer distress (doesn't matter species or sex) is good enough. Moose calls could work as well.

Most importantly, call where the wolves are and pay close attention to your wind.

I have forgotten his name and you tube videos but there was a guy in Montana who successfully hunted wolves, as I recall he used wolf howls almost exclusively

My set is near a local dump so wolves come about twice a week. But I’m not hunting by my set. Trying a new location so everything’s unknown.

I am always trying to get more information on calling wolves as one day I too plan on trying to call them. Here in Alberta the guys I know who have had success both agree that the hardest part is getting within hearing distance of wolves.
One guy has success doing calf elk distress on a bite reed hand call and the other used multiple tactics but was a huge fan of using coyote vocals to incite a territorial response
