Gman757, I ordered one on the TNVC "Early Bird" special so I should have mine later next week when they first ship out and I'll let you know what I think of it.

If it is anything like the IR Illum on the DBAL-D2, I am certain that it is a winner.

Seeing as how the unit is entirely made in Germany, I would imagine that they are sourcing one of the Phillips OSRAM IR LEDs made in the Netherlands similar to the outstanding ones used in the EagleTac IR flashlight units.

I talked with the owner of Illumination Gear after the EagleTac craze hit the web and he sold out of the units. He said someone made a large purchase and bought his suppliers entire inventory of the Osram IR LEDs so he could not get units back in stock until they were replenished. This can't be them because they are 850nm.

The EagleTac IR LED is rated at 3.4 watts or 3400mW. However, there is no ability to focus the beam on the EagleTac. I have talked to Illumination Gear about the possibility of a unit with an Aspheric lens but it's not in the works yet.

Look forward to your comparison. Try to check the unit for detectability. Put your hand in front of the beam and see if there is any red glow given the fact that it is an 805nm unit.

AS stated in my earlier posts, there WILL be a faint red glow, I have talked about this many times in this thread. :) ALL IR LED units have this faint red glow to some degree, some more than others. Hope this helps.

Our IR LED is proprietary and we did not purchase anyone's collections as well. :)

Seeing as it is a totally German made product, ie "Made In Germany", the chances of it incorporating a Phillips OSRAM IR LED is very high....

All of our Leitz and Zeiss microscopes at work have them.

Vic, I really hope at some point that you acquire a quality Gen 2 scope similar to the M845, but one with more magnification (at least 4X), one that is affordable. Even the price of a Gen 2 is more than a lot of guys, myself included, can afford. But, I have hopes of upgrading to a better scope sometime in the future. Just thought I would mention my desire and I'm sure there are a lot of others who might be interested as well.

I would also like to know the specs on the IR LED. I realize that a good magnifying lens can cost upwards of $50 and certainly should be taken into account in a purchasing decision but some people want to know the specs on the LED as well. Do you plan on publishing the specs or should we not expect to see them at all?

Vic, you also mention the surefire body compatability list, does this mean you will be offering a drop in conversion in the future?
 
You cannot beat the EagleTac for the price but they are all sold out.

In addition, the EagleTac is not adjustable or focus-able, although it does have two power settings, high and low.

The Torch Pro goes even further distance than the EagleTac and is adjustable to focus the ring size that you see by focusing the lens.

For general NV helmet use, the EagleTac is great.

For NV weapon mount, the Torch Pro is simply awesome.
 
Torch Pro Operating Temps: -58F to 122F.

As with all electronic devices, please insure lithium's are used in extreme cold weather over alkaline's.
 
Many folks do no have a rail at the end of their shooting sticks when using either the D-740/D-760 NV scopes, and have no way of mounting the new Torch Pro.

Folks have been asking for a pic rail adapter for these scopes and we have just completed this new accessory that will now enable the Torch Pro to be mounted via a small Pic Rail using the D-740/D-760's mounting bracket.

Price will be $22.95 stand alone and $19.95 when purchased with the Torch Pro and will be up on the web site tomorrow.
