In the house....

Springfield Armory Prodigy in 9mm.

1911 double stack, 5" barrel, topped off with a Holosun 507K X2 red dot sight.

Comes with one each 17 & 20 round mags, and I ordered 2 more 17's, a mag loader, and a DeSantas holster.

Shoots pretty dam good.

Edited to add, I reached a major milestone:

This is my first time to ever post or start a thread on my phone, plus post pictures to boot!!!

Congrats! That is an easy shooting platform for a 9mm handgun.
That it is.

A little porky for CC, as it's 3 pounds on the dot loaded with 17rds of 124's, but that's what makes it sweet to shoot.

I have a Ruger Lightweight Commander in 38 Super if I feel the need to pack.

Wish I did. While I love my Super, it is a full size 1911 and is a bit bulky for EDC sometimes causing me to go with the smaller 9mm Shield especially in the heat. Hard to find a Super in anything but a full size gun.

Here's my round about story on the 38 Super.

Back in 1998 Colt finally came out with their full size 1911 in 9x23. They weren't selling well, so they threw in a 38 Super barrel and mag to help sales. I bought one, and then bought 1K each of 38 Super & 9x23 Starline brass. When I sold the gun, I kept the Super ammo & brass. Then I bought the Ruger LW in 9mm, then picked up a Fusion 38 Super barrel for it because I had all the goodies for it.

I'm running 124's at 1300 in that 4.25" barrel.

Full size 1911 is heavy, but doable w/pancake holster. Gotta love the 1911's. :)

I do carry it whenever I can cover it with a vest or jacket. Love the pistol. Foolproof, powerful, and dead nuts reliable.

I do carry IWB, but am partial to small of the back most of the time. Just suits my needs and is more comfortable for me.

ALF: I'm reloading 115 JHPs for mine. Carry ammo is Sig 125 Elite. No difference in POI at 25 yards and I found a deal on a bunch of 115s a few years ago so they're good for range work. I won't carry reloads for self-defense but that's another discussion.

She sure is Purdy. Keep us posted. I was lusting after one pretty bad. I never buy anything when they first come out. Sounds like they may still have a few bugs to work out. I have read mixed reviews about reliability

I read the reviews too, but early on it was the full size with the issues, so most were recommending to get the Commander length until they got things ironed out.

This was listed at Cabelas in Mesa, Az. as a Commander, so I bought it, & it was shipped to my local store. Imagine my surprise when they handed it to me and it was a full size. After a bunch of back & forth, I decided to keep it, as I really had no intentions of using it for CC anyway.

It ran almost perfect out of the gate with my reloads, but would get an occasional FTF, due mostly to the cool temps and grease on the slide. I put a few drops of oil on the slide rails that night, and shot it again the next day, and it ran fine.

It'll smooth up after a few hundred rounds.

Carried a XD (45 gap), don't carry it as much since I assembled a poly g17. I usually have 11 in the mag. Much lighter than the Springfield. I'm watching for a Leupold micro delta to put on it. I carry FBI positioned.

I bought this first run 9mm EMP for CC, but ended up selling it due to not always depressing the grip safety with my hold.

Not a good thing to have to worry about hand placement in a SHTF scenario:

Current carry gun, if I feel the need to pack, is my Ruger LW Commander with either 9mm or 38 Super barrel.

I did replace the sights with Truglo TFX Tritium/Fiber Optic night sights.

How do you like the Truglo sights? My Kimber original tritium sights have bit the dust and I plan to replace them & the Truglo TFX Tritium/Fiber Optic sounds like something I could live with.

Love 'em, so well in fact I put a set on my full size stainless Ruger 45.

The green fiber optics really stands out in the day time, great for aging eyes that struggle with open sights.

My primary concern is the tritium night sight, but fiber optic would probably be a +. Cataract surgery has improved my sight enough to see white dots reasonably well in good light. Does the fiber optic subtract anything from quality of tritium (in near total darkness)? IOW, wondering if I should go w/straight tritium for best night use?

I have another Commander with tritium sights to compare to. There's virtually no difference in the dark between them, except the Truglos are just a touch larger, which is a bonus for night time.
