New Winchester turkey load

Killed my turkey this year with those win. in 5 shot. Patterned great in my gun. I then use those hulls to load my coyote load,35 pellets of #4buck.

How did you gain access to these loads? it says they are for 2014? the look like a regular load to me but with a Teflon (or whatever) wrap inside the wad before the shot is added. but that's just my observation from the pictures I really have no idea.

Your more observant than I. Your correct as well. After looking over my box they are not the same.

I think Winchester dropped their tungsten based loads last year because of the high cost of that shot material. This seems to be an effort to keep the same tight patterning ability with lead shot that tungsten is known for. So Winchester touts this as a long range load but the problem is lead shot doesn't carry the energy or have the penetration abilities of tungsten. That 70 yard target is shot with #6's and only has two hits in the bone/brain of the turkey target. I am not impressed with that and certainly wouldn't be taking long range pokes with this load that I wouldn't take with any other lead shot #6 load.

from what I understand is that there claiming it to be better for penetration because with it shooting a tighter pattern, you can shoot 5's instead of 6'a and 4's instead of 5's therefore giving you and advantage of 10 or 15 more yards. but it seems like yesterday they was claiming on Winchesters website that there was a penetration advantage of like 10% or something another without stating to drop down a shot size, it was more to do with that shot lock stuff. If that is true then that would be a HUGE claim. I cant get on there website right now for some reason to see if I am correct about that claim or not. it says there going to be about $20 bucks for a box of 10. that's like federals flight control wad turkey loads and hornady's. we'll just have to get some and try them out I guess. might be the best thing since toilet paper "in your particular shotgun"

Lead shot is lead shot and while pattern density is important the individual pellets still must penetrate enough to do the work. In the article the long range patterns were only doable with the #6's because of the increased pellet counts of the smaller shot size. And two hits of lead #6's just ain't gonna get it done at long range - period.
