Newbie dumb question live bait

I guess I could kill the rabbit, cut it open and bleed it out in the snow, turn on the call. We have all kinds of crows that would circle. Then when the old wise one shows up he sees the crows by rabbit and it would give me a little time to shot.

The best reply I have ever heard was "if that rabbit could shoot for you"

How would I train it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well I'll be dammed every once and a while some one comes up with a good idea even if it was by accident. When buddy said the rabbit might be able to help if he was doing the shooting when you miss not only is that a good idea I personaly think the rabbit would get a bigger charge out of shooting a coyote than you would.

"Should I have used that rabbit on my hunt?"
Why don't you learn how to call, spot and stalk, shoot off a dead pile or any of the other options open to you.

Well I am trying to learn how to hunt coyotes from everyone here which includes call, spot and stalk, shoot off a dead pile.

I will be the first to admit I am a lousy coyote hunter and am just learning how to hunt them.

I just was asking if it is normal or anyone uses live/dead rabbits as bait. They are unprotected here.

I remember someone suggesting nailing a house cat to a piece of plywood to call them in.

I just want to learn everthing I can from this group of guys.

Is it illegal in your area to kill the rabbit and then use it as bait?

So how is a dead pile legal if a dead rabbit is illegal.

Seems after that one post about avideo on here everyone is a little jumpy. Lets get this out of the way quick sorry if I offended you.

Thanks

The cat and the plank are jokes, kind of like the one about a recipe for Carp (place on oak or cherry plank, season to taste and bake @ 350 degrees for 1 hour or until browned, remove from oven and remove and discard carp--EAT PLANK).

After awhile of being on this and other site you will start to understand things that are "JUST JOKES" and not ment to be taken serious...JOHN

Your wasting your time. If you are going to be calling anyway, a cheap motion decoy of some sort (even feathers hanging from a string attached to a piece of wire for a mast) will catch more attention once the coyote gets where it can see .
