Living south of Houston doesn’t offer a lot of opportunities to trap and tan hides, so I don’t. I do have a fur leather sewing machine and have made a few pieces of gear (binocular case, hunt caps, badger purse, etc.).
Can anyone tell me what pelts I cannot sell as a final product in Texas? I get the pelts from glacierwear in Maine or the leather guy, and make the hunt cap/sew the inlay into a rifle sling, etc.. Perhaps to be on the safe side, I should get a license (trapper?) to avoid issues with a game warden. I have a call in to the game warden but haven’t heard back yet.
