Newer RCBS Chargemasters worth the update?

I love my RCBS Chargemaster 1500 combo, I've had it for a long time and it's been flawless. But I'm considering an upgrade to a newer model.

The newer Chargemaster Supreme looks good. Anyone make the upgrade? Worth it?

I'm not sure I want to pay for the RCBS Matchmaster.

I always think that buying the best you can afford makes sense in certain situations.

I have two 1500's. One my dad gave me for my B-day back in 2014. The other i inherited when he passed.

I will hold and use those up. Once they are worthless, It will be the top of the line, premium dispenser. Hopefully that is way down the road.

Is this more of a "I want" than "I need" situation? Nothing wrong with
that. I've always been tickled pink with my 1500 Combo, and never run
into any problems others have sometimes complained about theirs. Some
say it's too slow dispensing large amounts, but Lee dippers of a
smaller amount, then advancing the dispenser do not seem slow at all.
The only times it drops too much (which hardly ever happens) is with
large cylinder granules.

The "learning process" of the newer models sounds nice, but the Blue
Tooth addition is just more that can go wrong with them. Think I'll
just stick with the old and reliable.

I have only ever used a Chargemaster Lite as far as electronic scales go. It will throw Over/Under about once every 50 rds or so. Sometimes more often depending on powder. It did not seem to like H1000, H4831 or Varget but Benchmark works pretty consistent for me. It certainly speeds up the tedious process of charging cases

I was looking at the Chargemaster Supreme but was told that the unit has a lot of issues with drifting, over charge (even with the learn feature) and that the 1500 was a much better built unit.

IMO....you should Keep what you have and wait for the bugs to be worked out.

Who told you that? Sounds like someone is mixed up with the old Chargemaster 1500, which I have, and I've read about those exact complaints for years, but mine has never had ANY of those problems (except it does overthrow by .1-.2gr every 50 rounds or so but never underthrow).

I figure like many complaints, it's mostly haters parroting over and over something they "heard", with a few legit issues (normal) sprinkled in.

I'm a member of a 700-member shooting club (had a club meeting last night) and some of them have both.

I was looking at the Chargemaster Supreme myself and made a post to see if anyone on here had one and/or thoughts on the CM Supreme and the Hornady Auto Charge Pro.

I understand about haters, opinions, brand loyalty, etc. For myself, I just need something that's dependable and consistent as I can usually work it out.

Anyway, Just passing along information as I have no experience with either of the units.

I am not a parrot.

My 1500 under throws and over throws quite often. The large over throw is just the nature of clumps of powder all falling out at the same time. The large under throw is when a clump comes out, and it registers it is filling up too fast on the last trickle part. Then it just stops.

I check every last pan on my Gempro 250.

All of this, and i still love it. I have a little trickle pan i add powder with. Also, when it fills too much i just tap out a couple of flakes.

Its just a machine. My life consists of machines. Many of which are 10 mil plus.

To expect an old gen 1 Chinese piece of electronics to be perfect for a few hundred bucks is a laughing matter.

AR I had a lot of overthrows on mine when I got it. I bought a set of brass inserts off the BR board and cut them down by about 90%. Most powders do fine but I do have to swap one out at times.

Greg

I absolutely love the. Chargemaster.
