Man, I have yet to see one out where I'm at. There have been a few ranchers tell me that they have seen em out here, but I haven't seen one yet. I'd like to get one mounted, I think they are pretty cool lookin.

Ah, I was waiting for somebody to ask. The elk hunt part of the trip wasn't as good. I got into a herd of about 6 cows on opening day, and was able to sneak up to them within about 150 yards. The shot was excellent. I took aim and drilled a nice fat ole' cow right through her shoulder and ribcage. But, amazingly enough, she didn't go down. We tracked big blood spots for about 300 yards, and found 6 chunks of rib bone along the way. Never did find her...

I saw elk everyday after that too, but wasn't able to get into position for a shot. Luckily the badger came in to lift my spirits.

They are beautiful little critters. I may get this one mounted after all, mainly because you don't come across too many of them down here in the southwest. They sure do stink after a couple of minutes after the shot though...

I'd give it a try for em' sometime if the ranchers say they've been seeing them.

Thanks and good luck!
