night vision question

I have a question for you night hunters. Has anyone tried mounting a night vision scope in front of a daytime scope. I know that Atn sells a kit for doing that but it is very expensive. I have a Rock River Coyote rifle with a Leupold 4x12 in a Larue spr mount. I am looking at a Atn Aries mk350 and mount like to mount it in front of the Leupold on a handguard rail. I really dont like the idea of taking the scopes off and switching them back and forth. Thanks for the help.. thanks for the help

Wont work, unless the NV is designed to be put in front, you can only use it to look thru the eyepeice end and then you have to use a IR illuminator. Because you loose a lot of light gain looking thru your scope, I don;t care how expensive it is or how big an objective lens you have, if you want a good picture looking thru a scope use a IR. Even using GEn 3. Now if it's a full moon you'd be okay with Gen 3.

Clip on nightvision scopes such as the BNS PVS-22 are made to go in front of day scopes. There is no POA/POI with these units as they are optically aligned very well. You can see our new web site here for the PVS-22's. http://tnvc.com/categories/night_vision_weapon_sights.html Hope this helps and thank you.

i had a friend try a pv22 and it worked ok with his scope, which was cheap 40 mill bell, butt it was a pain in the butt to try to focus!!by the time you get everything mounted , focus adjustment is more than halfway down the barrel. if you are serious about it go to a day / night system.

Make SURE you use a low powered scope for this application!!! I have one and tried it on a 4.5-14x50 and was really hard to decipher anything.... 1-3 on lowest setting for best results!!!!

I only use a NV monocular in my hand to scan with so I don't have to carry a light. I shoot at 10-25 yards and use a lazer sighted to my gun. Shoot from my lap.
