Nightstalker Encore

This is my night hunting coyote/hog truck gun. Encore frame full of Bellm goodness, barrel is a full bull Douglass XX cut to 22" and chambered in .260 Rem. by On Target Technologies. Load is a 100 NBT @ 3100 fps, and it will shoot it into very nice little groups. It is a flat hammer on hogs and coyotes.

I custom mixed the Cerakote colors just for this job using Tactical Grey and Graphite Black.

You really have to handle this little rifle to fully appreciate how short it is, and how easy it swings around in a truck. The Encore design saves about 6" of action length, makes that 22" barrel swing like a 16". Since I am usually driving that makes a big difference. Plus the break-open/hammer design is really safe too. For night hunting it wears a Wicked Lights W-402 with the green LED bulb in it.

Its heavy, for sure. This was one of my Dad's rifles, back before he passed away a 2 years ago. When he ordered that barrel from OTT, it was supposed to be a sporter weight barrel. Imagine his surprise when it came in, and was a full bull! He really wanted to send it back, but by that time OTT had gotten so backed up that lead times were horrible. He had already been waiting 6+ months for it, and the whole process would have had to start over completely. In fact, by that point I think OTT wasn't even taking on new business anymore, and folks were having a lot of trouble getting barrels from him because he was so far behind. Which is a real shame, because he did excellent work, his barrels always shot like crazy. So anyways, dad just kept it and lived with the extra weight. It was a 24", but I had it chopped down to a 22", and in all honestly should have cut it down another inch or two past that.

Yeah, he was!

And I may still chop it down another 2". Since I do my own Cerakote re-shooting the barrel wouldn't put me out any money, and I might want it a touch darker anyways. Buddy of mine is wearing me out about getting a can for it. If I were to go that route I would just go ahead and chop it to 18" and be done.

Right now, as it sits, it is 36" from butt to muzzle.

I'm with your buddy on this one so you should prolly just go ahead and hack it to 18 and get a can lol! I am jealous of the states that can have suppressors! One day when I move back towards home (Missouri) I will have me one.

Sigh... Getting the trust, and stamp, and can will set me back about a grand just for starters. Not to mention multiple barrels being threaded, and I know once I get started there would be more cans to follow...

But, I figure it will happen in the next couple of years anyways. I am probably already on every watch list there is anyways. My friend has all his rigs set up with cans, and shooting long range with him sure is nice, no dust blowing up from the ground and all. This is his latest setup, I did the Cerakote on it for him.

I bet your dad is not the only one who noticed the paw print on the stock

Prolly less expensive to buy a new barrel as a posed to fluting it... It is a sweet looking little setup...

The paw print is kind of a thing I do on my cerakote. Most of my rifles have it somewhere, and several I have done for friends have it too.

Youth stock on a 21", I bet that is one short dude. I guess 2" shorter than mine.
