Nikon Buckmasters Scope?

Well I got a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14 on my Howa 270 dont shoot it besides when its deer and elk season. Went out before last season and it was shootin bout a foot low for some reason. Figured it might have got bumped or something so I tried to sight it back in but I could not get it to shoot consisent(sp) to save my life, one shot would be kinda close to where I wanted it but then the next could have been as much as 5 inches off. I know the Buckmasters aint no top of the line scope and got to wondering if maybe the recoil of a 270 was to much for it?

Thanks,
Luke

double check your mounts and bases. If they are tight, it would not hurt to send it to Nikon. I did have a problem simular to what you describe with a prostaff scope. Nikon replaced the scope with a new one with NO questions asked.
I only buy Nikon's. The prostaff was the ONLY scope that I have bought from Nikon that gave me trouble. I have 6 Nikons in the safe.

I have put hundreds of rounds through a Ruger m77 with a BuckMaster. The 270 is nowhere near that much recoil. Like the others have said, check the rings/bases.

I have a friend who blew up a set of burris rings and bases, not sure what model. (7 STW) The buckmaster was just fine. He learned his lesson and put Leupold dual dovetail rings/bases.

Check your bases, highly doubt the buckmaster is to blame.

I shoot that same scope on 2 of my rifles #1 300win mag #2 270 wsm and have had no problem with recoil.Unless somthing is wrong with it I would say that your 270 wouldnt hurt it.

That scope has been used by me on a Winchester model 70 in .300 WSM for many years and I can say Nikon has the best scope for the price. Only better scopes are leapold and such but they are 10x the price and they lack a coyote special model scope.

Most times its been the rings that is the problem. There are a lot of badly designed rings out there. Make sure you have good quality rings on there and use the non permanent LOCTITE on them.
Then you should be set.
