Nikon Buckmasters side focus rifle scopes

Thinking of getting one of these in 4.5-14x40 with side focus. Does anyone have experience with this scope, or any buckmasters scope.

thanks

IMHO they are one of the better deals out there. To be honest with, I only own 3 Monarchs, no Buckmasters. But I have been more than happy with Nikon in all respects. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one--2MG

I bought this exact scope earlier this year. Its maiden voyage was our prairie dog shoot in Wyoming. I believe it is a great scope and I would recomend it to anyone. I'm a Nikon man and I also own a Monarch 6.5x20. The Monarch is a little bit clearer, but the Bickmaster's side focus makes it easier to use. My dad is buying a new Ruger 77/17 and he is getting this scope to put on top. I have the Nikoplex recticle, but he is getting the Mil-Dot. I have shot both, but I prefer the Nikoplex.

Great scope, great price.

On a side note. If you buy this scope and you plan on getting Butler Creek flip up scope covers, be careful. It took me three tries to get the eye piece cover correct. If you go to Cabelas, they sell a kit, but the eye piece cover is wrong. I finally figured it out by finding a Scheels that had the scope in stock and using the old, trial and error, method. I kept the packages for future reference.

I have the 50mm Buckmaster and have no problems with it. I do use the Butler Creek flip covers. If you buy it in a store you should be able to try on the covers on the spot because the cover packaging is easy to slide open and close.

I ordered the scope and was unable to do that. I tried using the dimensions from the owner's manual, but that didn't work. I believe that it may have something to do with the rubber on the eye piece.

I have this scope...my first nikon, but it will not be my last...scope is very clear and it took a little while to get used to the side focus...all in all it's a very nice scope for the money. I paid $238 for mine...I am going to mount it on a newly aquired Tikka.

I had samples of the 30mm Sniper version Nikons, 3-10 and 4-16. Had trouble with the 3-10 not focusing correctly. On the 4-16 the side focus knob froze up for some reason. They were replaced and the new ones worked.

hi grouse

which scope covers did you end up buying for your scope? if you can pass me the #'s it will save me removing my scope or hauling my rifle into the local scheels.

thanx

I kept the packaging just for this reason.

The objective end is fit with a Butler Creek Blizzard style, "#8". The eye piece is fit with a Butler Creek Flip Open, with the red button style, "17 EYE".

Let me know if you need anything else. Don't go to Cabelas and buy the matched set for this scope. The eye piece cover is the wrong size.

I have the 40mm objectivbe buckmaster and was going to order a sunshade for it. Would the caps still work on the objective end?

After I bought my first 4.5x14 mil dot with side focus...I found another one for only $130 so I now own two of these scopes. I mounted the second scope on my DPMS LR rifle and it has is a very good package.
