There was nothing intelligent said on the first 3 1/2 pages either.

"Pre calibrated", huh?

Let's see ....You've already switched powders, switched bullets, and talked about switching barrels.

All to accomodate a scope with a POS reticle in it that doesn't work as advertised. ANY other scope, however, with a plain old duplex in it, would have worked with ANY bullets, powders, loads, barrels, velocities, etc.

You're right, it should be locked down. You can't fix stupid.....

Are you just angry because you couldn't contribute an idea without being a prick?
Maybe someday you will grow up and get over yourself.

The whole thing was full-on stupid from the get go. The fact that you don't realize that scares me.

In order for that BDC reticle to work as advertised all these things need to remain a constant:

bullet weight
velocity
ballistic coefficient
altitude
temperature
pressure
angle of shot(slope)
scope height
target distance

Good luck with that.......

Name calling is a solid indicator of someone who be needing to "grow up and get over one's self" When you resort to name calling you have allready lost any argument. It turns people off and is the often a tactic used by liberals who can't back up their position on any issue with fact. Congatulations great job! Grizz

"Hey my scope won't work, what should I do?"

"Try switching bullets. Try switching powders. Try switching barrels".

Quite often I buy scopes and then customize my rifle to make them work......

Goodness, some people have difficulty being helpful, but excel at telling people they are stupid because they have a different opinion.

Y don't people on here get the picture that folks want help when they ask for it, and not rude insults to their questions. Also, getting your thread hijacked is really aggravating, and that is cause enough for most people to call a person on how they are acting.

This may be even funnier than the switching barrels thing. How are you gonna help him, with ANYTHING if he hasn't even tried it and has NO clue how far off his BDC is or isn't? Really hard to help someone who hasn't even attempted to help themself........

I gave my opinion. Get rid of it. That is my solution. I have no tolerance for stuff that does not do what it is supposed to do.

I don't believe you have been any more useful than I have. I gave a solution. You speculated and beat around the bush and came up with nothing.

How are you going to give him a solution when he doesn't even know what it does yet?

"I have a scope that I haven't even dialed in yet. Can you tell me how to fix it?"

This whole thread was an abortion from the start......

I'm going to be even less scientific than any of you here. I like simple fine plex or fine X-hair reticles. Based on ranged distance and my knowlege of how tall a PD is, in both the horizontal and vertical positions, I can judge how high I will need to hold, all based on the load I'm shooting. Am I 100%, absolutely not, but I don't do too bad.

Don't need no "wonder scope", don't spin dials.

Oh, I forgot, I check the wind. I lick my finger, and depending on where my finger was, before I licked it, I'll decide if I want to lick it again.

Being old fashioned, I don't think there is any substitute, for "trigger time". Learn your rifle, learn your load, learn where it shoots, in good conditions and bad. If you have that, you don't need a "wonder scope". Take what you would spend on that wonder scope, buy ammo and get out to the range and WORK!

Just an old man's opinion.

Wonder how many critters get wounded from magical reticles owned by guys who think it'll make them a "shooter"?

I agree with your last paragraph whole heartedly. I have to disagree about the "holding over" thing. Spin turrets, aim at hair, not at air. Much more precise......

I'm with ya Claimbuster, I guess I'm just old school. I've made some remarkable shoots knowing my rifles ballistics size of the vermin range ect. Who has time to play with turrets when the coyote come a running in either direction. Grizz

2muchgun: The difference is I wasn't rude or insulting.

I actually told him politely that if it doesn't do what he wants then he should see about sending it back. But, I wasn't rude or arrogant. So why don't you get some humility, and try to focus on being helpful, and not self-absorbed arrogant jerk.

I run mil-dots if I don't want to have a basic plex-style reticule. So I don't use fancy reticule, but I don't belittle people trying something I don't use.

I realize I am getting in this conversation a little late but I read an article about this scope dealing with this exact problem for this scope. If you go to

http://www.nikonhunting.com/SpotOnRegistration/

you can use Nikon's Spot On software for free to calculate impact points for all of nikons different BDC reticles for different velocities. Haven't tried it myself. Hopefully it helps
