nikon monarch or nightforce ?

In my eyes, the monarch and nightforce aren't even in the same playing field. Nightforce is tons better but alot more money. I own a monarch and the glass is very nice but i chose the wrong reticle. It's the BDC and the crosshairs are way to thick for varmints. Other then the reticle, i'm very happy with the scope.

Make sure you read it all including equipment used....nothing replaces practice time and knowing your rifle..........X

Considering none of the equipment list shows Nightforce or Nikon I'd say NOT relevant. Also, obvious the 18 yo kid that wipped butt (kudos to him thats impresive), shooting a custom, has spent MANY years of "practice time and knowing your rifle". And were did an 18yo get $5k to sink into a rifle though. And why didn't someone stop him. To have 5K in a 40x with a Leupy on it is kinda steep to ME!

Nightforce is not needed to kill deer or even shoot paper. However, if you NEED absolute adjustments & your other equipment is good enough to gain advantage from that precision by all means look at night force (as mentioned; Sightron SIII would be another to look @). I'd rather have a great rifle with a superb optic than 10 so-so guns. In a world were there are so many things that can go wrong in that once in a lifetime moment. Something I could have prevented (faulty equipment) needs be no worry.

Granted,no nightforces or monarchs mentioned.

but i believe a guy with a stock ruger #1 in 270,,with a pine ridge scope,,,hanging with and beating most of the shooters,,,is 10 times the accomplishment of someone winning with a custom built 5000 dollar rifle.

Dont get me wrong about my feelings on the NF ,they look great,,i just cant figure any need they would fill for me.

And i have a big nikon monarch sitting in a drawer right now,,that is a great piece of glass also,,just in case the lower priced glass on one of my rifles crap out(or i get a new one!)..................X

teh price difference rally prevents teh two be directly compared. Obviosly teh Nightforce will be a superior product, but you have askyourself if the extra money is worth it becasue teh Monarch is a fine scope.

in my experience with NF, I personally tend to look @ NF optics as "performing great" but they look great 2. if you ever get one you will know what need they will fill!!!

Never owned a NF and probably never will unless I find it laying around somewhere. But I have loopy's, Nikons, Burris, Snowwis (Simmons),Sightron, and something that Bass Pro Shops sell that is supposed to be a Bushnell. The Loopy's are nice as is the Burris and the Nikons. I really like the Sightron as well. I had a SSIII that was a fantastic scope and screwed up and sold it. Lots of good stuff out there so its hard to choose. The Vortex Vipers are nice and I have heard they have a new one out now that compares to the NF's.

thanks guys .. i know i dont have to have a nightforce to shoot deer or paper but i want somthing that will be spot on everytime ..im going to look into them some more if i dont find one i like im going to go with a nightforce

Look at the Sightrons SIII's. Like phyc said they are dang fine scopes. Clearer than my conquests. Great tracking & #1 warranty also. Almost as good as NF, just without lighted retical. Only scope mentioned that comes close. If you don't need lighted rect save a few $$$'s & get an SIII.
