Sounds like an awesome setup! Is the TMR reticle thicker than the regular duplex? I would like a reticle that is a bit thicker than the duplex, but not as bold as the heavy duplex
Nikon or Leupold, another please help me thread!

I would think it is a bit thicker, but I haven't compared side-side. In fact, I haven't ever looked thru an etched (vx3, mark 4) tmr. I obviously think I'll like it, otherwise I'm wasting $130.
As I mentioned before in this thread, I do have experience with the illuminated TMR in the Mark AR. I believe the one in the VXR patrol is essentially the same also. They are made from fiber optic wire, for illumination, and are quite a bit thicker than a duplex for sure. A tech at Leupold told me an etched TMR would be finer than the fiber optic version, which is why I opted to do a custom vx3 over a vxr patrol.
I can't tell you how they compare to the heavy duplex. I think you'd be wise to look close at them and if possible look at them in person, or ask Leupold.

I have couple BDC I am phasing out and going to nikoplex. The BDC adds to much clutter in my scope and for larger animals it might be alright for some, But I would rather range the target and turn the turrets and fire. Not knowing about prairie dog hunting but I am thinking the BDC reticles on the nikon would not be a good choice for the small rodents. Might consider the nikoplex over the BDC in your choices for the smaller targets.The prarie dog hunters would know for sure.
